  1. Thank you, Tam... just out of curiosity, what made you pursue Enterolab testing in spite of zero symptoms and no antibodies? I am certainly open to pursuing that, but there are 1,000 possible reasons I could be having all these miscarriages, and I would like to have a good reason to think I might have celiac before pursuing this road so diligently when I...
  2. Thank you. I will miss this forum even though I was here for only a short time! What an amazing resource if it had turned out I did have celiac. I wish you all the best.......
  3. *** UPDATE *** I just got the call from the doctor... I tested NEGATIVE for celiac. This was based on the antibodies blood test. I suspected I did not have it, like I said because I have never had any of the symptoms (nor has anyone in my family history), but I wanted to leave no stone unturned. I DO suspect that my husband may be gluten-intolerant.....
  4. Wow, thanks for the recommendation. Wish I lived out west; he sounds great!! (Anyone know of a good one on the east coast/Southeast?)
  5. I love gingersnap, the cinnamon one and the lemon one. YUM!
  6. I like things like this... TFS! It will be interesting to see what all kinds of things wheat goes into that we don't even think about (at least to a celiac newbie like me... I'm sure the long-timers know all about everything they sneak wheat into!)
  7. YUM, that sounds delicious (especially with huckleberries)!! (Where on earth do you find huckleberries??!) TFS!
  8. You don't sound like a "debbie downer" in the least! I appreciate ANY new ideas for things to test, whether they are celiac-related or not! And yes, genetic testing is the latest thing we have had done. My husband's results are 100% normal, not even a balanced translocation... I'm still waiting for my results, but no one in my family history has ever had...
  9. Thank you all... this is a lot to take in. No, not yet... this has all come up very suddenly. Until recently, I had no reason whatsoever to think I could possibly be gluten-intolerant. Then again, as I mentioned, I have never been much of a bread eater, nor processed food eater, although the times that I did consume bread (e.g., the summer I bicycled...
  10. I know, I keep reading that, but what I want to know is WHY? Okay, this helps. Thank you for explaining it that way. I haven't been able to sleep, my throat and sinuses hurt so badly. I hope I haven't TRIGGERED celiac disease by consuming all this wheat in the last week....
  11. Yes, after I realized how much phlegm I've been having, I had a lightbulb moment and went Googling to see if gluten intolerance is related to allergies/sinuses... plenty of links showed up!! I then told my husband HE needs to try a gluten-free diet... he's had GI problems AND sinus/allergies for most of his life!! (of course, I can't even get him to give...
  12. Oops, I had missed this part: That is good to know. I do eat pasta from time to time, mostly whole-grain and/or made of vegetables (like spinach linquine), but almost never any bread... hmm, now I'm confused and am DEFINITELY eager to see what my bloodwork says.
  13. Thank you for such a quick reply!! I truly didn't, at first. My husband and I have recently had our FOURTH miscarriage in the last 2.5 years (no living children yet). We have been tested for everything under the sun. We are desperate for answers. Three people within a couple of weeks of each other asked me, "Have you been tested for celiac disease...
  14. Hi again... I want to thank you all again for your replies. The more I learn about celiac, the more I'm becoming convinced I have it. (I am trying to get tested ASAP if my insurance will allow it.) I am also depressed because I've realized I may have killed my last baby. When I was 9 weeks pregnant this last time, I saw a carrot cake in the grocery...
  15. I am asking this seriously, not flippantly... I truly want to know. It seems that even ONE tiny inadvertent bit of gluten, not even one communion wafer at church, or even food served with a spoon that touched bread, is unacceptable when you have celiac disease. Why is this? Is there no benefit at all to severely cutting out 99% of the gluten in one's diet...
  16. veggienft, thank you so much too for the great info and links -- SO helpful!!! I do take flax seed oil (as well as consume fresh-ground flax seeds in various foods I eat)... from what I understand it has similar positive benefits. Hopefully flax seeds aren't considered bad for the gluten-intolerant!
  17. YES!!! This is SO helpful!!! Thank you so very much... I will definitely get tested. The weird thing is, like I said, no one in my family has ever had digestive issues or other symptoms, not even miscarriage... I seem to be the only one. I did have a bout with depression in my 20's, but at the time I was eating a super-healthy (mostly fruits and vegetables...
  18. Hi, everyone... sorry for plunging right on in with a dumb question... my husband and I have been trying to have a baby and although we're able to conceive, with every pregnancy, the baby dies between 10 and 12 weeks. (I've been tested for everything in the world EXCEPT celiac disease, and my husband and I are both deemed "normal.") Neither I nor anyone...
