  1. Hi Sarah, It is always the grease that gets me. I am definately more sensitive to greasey foods since I've been gluten-free. Laura
  2. I hope someone can help me out. I used to purchase a Corn Flakes cereal from Whole Foods that came in a Blue Box. I know it is not Natural Path. Whole Foods does not carry it anymore (and they weren't helpful in tracking it down) and I can't remember the brand name. It is the only one I liked and I'd like to find it somewhere else to order some. Thank...
  3. Thanks for checking on that Stephanie. After they said it was 1%, now knowing that this is still too much, I would have let it go. So, based on what you have all checked on, is it truely gluten-free (provided they make it in a separate pot)? Even though I've been gluten-free for 1 yr now, I'm so used to eating only items specifically labed gluten-free...
  4. A restaurant chain in Northern CA now has low-gluten pasta on it's menu. I asked what the % of gluten was and she checked with the manager and was told 1%. Am I correct that that is still too much. I thought I read somewhere it's safe under .02 or something like that? Thank you, Laura

    ARCHIVED Restaurants

I'm sorry to hear that 2 of you were given bad meals at Outback. I have eaten a few times at both an Outback in Northern CA and also WI and have always been fine. I do explain the situation and ask for the menu and I haven't had a problem. It more than likely is a training issue that if they are going to provide the menu, they should also educate what...

    ARCHIVED Dry Hair

I have been symptom free for a good 8 months. Prior to going gluten-free I wasn't as bad as some folks, but was sick quite frequently. I have accidentally had gluten a few times but know it immediately, so I don't believe I'm getting gluten somewhere (except possibly the beauty products). I'm just not sure if the products would cause this seeing as I was...
  7. Hi Ladies, I'm glad I found your posts. I have been TTC for 5 years, with 1 very early m/c. I did not know I was celiac disease until last year, and have now been gluten-free since August 04 and have noticed a difference in my cycles. Unfortunately I can't say for sure if celiac disease played a role in my infertility or not, but my age is going to...

    ARCHIVED Dry Hair

Hello All, I am an unconfirmed Celiac and have been gluten-free since August of 2004. After a few months I noticed that my normally fairly smooth hair was getting kinky and very dry. I do not have any skin problems. After reading some of the posts, those of you with DH have sores on your scalp. So I'm wondering if the dry hair could simply be a lack of...
  9. Thank you all so much for your responses. I'm so tired of going around in circles, and you have helped me out with your words of wisdom. Kaiti, I know you asked why I was looking for an official diagnosis, and I guess my answer to that is because both Dr's were trying to tell me that it must be something else because the diet was not working 100%, only...
  10. Thank you Kaiti for your reply. The initial blood work and colonoscopy from the first Dr. was NOT gluten-free. When I did Kimball and Enterolab, I had only been gluten-free for 1.5 months. I definately did feel better gluten-free, but not 100% which was why Dr. #2 wanted the endoscopy. I told him all of my concerns about not having enough damage...
  11. Here's my story First Dr. in August of 2004 did blood work and colonoscopy not sure what he was going to find. His assistant called 1 week later and said b/w showed celiac disease and get on the gluten-free diet, which I did. When I called back 2 months later to discuss my progress he literally laughed at me for going gluten-free because my b/w was only...

  13. sriddle78, thanks for your response. Maybe I just worded my topic incorrectly. Those that write "could this be celiac" seem to get responses. Oh well. I hope that you also get some confirmation on your issues and start feeling better soon. Laura
  14. I am having the same problem. I have been gluten-free for 4.5 months. I never did have a gas issue until 5 days ago. The heartburn is killing me!!!!! I don't do dairy, and have tried eating more, eating less, nothing is helping. Any suggestions? Laura
  15. I'll start by saying that my Dr. is a quack and I need to find a new one. In the meantime, I've done some testing of my own and would love to hear what your thoughts are on the results. Blood work from Dr.'s lab: IgA <20 IgG H39 (moderate to stong positive) Ttg <20 Kimball Genetics cheek swab: DQ2 (DQA1*05/DQB1*02) negative ...
