  1. Thank you!
  2. Hi, I'm about 1 1/2 months into a gluten-free diet, and am doing pretty well with things, but one thing I (and my kids) really miss having is pita/syrian bread. Does anyone know of a good substitution, or have a good recipe for something similar? Thanks! Karen
  3. Thank you all so much for the great suggestions! We already have a thermos container so I will try a few hot meals and see how things go. It's funny how my mind didn't even consider hot meals for lunch! Also some great snack suggestions. I sometimes think we're doing great with keeping gluten-free, then I figure out something we've been eating that...
  4. Hi, We're pretty new to gluten-free, and I am having a really hard time coming up with lunch and snack ideas for my child who is in full-day kindergarten. He has never been a sandwich kid and doesn't really like the gluten-free breads anyway (my daughter loves them!) He asks me to pack him deli meat (e.g. gluten-free salami or ham) - I don't mind doing...
  5. My son had speech delays too, but I had never heard until now that it could be gluten-related - very interesting! My kids have more behavior-type issues and I have seen some moderate improvements in behavior after ~4 weeks gluten-free. We have made a few mistakes along the way, so I know we haven't been totally gluten-free. I had no idea that Rice Dream...
  6. Hi Sandy, I'm new to this too (about 3 weeks gluten-free), and I feel like a similar thing has happened to me. Initial improvement in mood and lethargy and my GI symptoms improved immediately, but then have had recurrences of feeling down and tired, and GI symptoms returned. I am probably having trouble with cross-contamination because dh is not gluten...
  7. We're about 3 weeks into the diet now (that is, with mistakes along the way!), and things do seem even a little better. I don't even want to think about hormonal changes at this point either! Thanks for the responses! It is really helpful to know others are experiencing similar issues. Karen
  8. Hi Nikki, Pain for that long really needs to be investigated further. The abdomen is such a big place that holds lots of organs, but off the top of my head, things that come to mind in the lower abdomen are intestinal issues which should have been covered by your GI doc. You could have a urinary tract infection, and if untreated could travel up to the...
  9. Hi, I'm brand new here - my 8 y.o. daughter was just recently diagnosed gluten sensitive through Enterolab, and we have started a gluten-free diet. Her only symptoms have been belly aches, and we would have never even considered gluten sensitivity except that she had been having some severe irritability and we started exploring possible causes. Have any...
