  1. Something quick and easy I like is just some chili w/ cheese on it. Or you can make a bigger meal out of it by baking some potatoes and then put chili, cheese, and sour cream on top. It's really good. I came up with it as an alternative to store-bought shredded BBQ beef that I used to always have... but it's got plenty of gluten in it. Hormel Chili with...
  2. This is great. I'm pretty new to this site, so I just found this recipe section today. I just posted in another section about wishing I could make green bean casserole. I've always made mine with canned green beans, cream of mushroom soup... mixed 'em together... then put grated cheddar cheese over the top and French's onions. I was a little bummed...
  3. Not sure what the urine sample would be for. I've never had to do that for anything regarding Celiac. I just had the blood test and upper endoscopy/biopsy. I'll have to go in next spring/summer to get a second endoscopy so they can make sure I'm healing. I have brown hair and brown eyes, and I'm positive for celiac. So I know it's not just blue...
  4. This is so funny, because I've been thinking someone should invent something like this! Looks like they already have! I was picturing something like the lead testing strips they sell at the home improvement stores. Funny. Guess now I can't take credit for thinking it up first.
  5. Hmm, now I'm a little nervous. I don't get symptoms like that... all I get is canker sores and some sinus issues, and bone sensitivity that has yet to go away. So, how do I know if my husband is glutening me? I've never made him brush his teeth after eating gluten. Although, typically I don't kiss him immediately after eating. Occasionally we have shared...
  6. It may be the tooth paste/polish they use, or the fluoride rinse or mouthwash. I'll check with my aunt who's a dental hygienist to see if she has any insight, and let you know if I find out anything... At least she knows what celiac disease is. Maybe your dentist(s) didn't know to check the toothpaste?? This'll be a good thing to look into since I...
  7. I have actually thought about that. I'm not sure how to tell if that's the case. I don't know that I've ever tried a yeast-free bread. Do they make a yeast free, gluten free bread?
  8. So, I'm curious... I've always hated the smell of bread... for as long as I can remember. And if I were to eat bread (or doughnuts or cinnamon rolls, etc.), I would feel like I do when I'm carsick. I'm wondering if this was my body's way of telling me to STAY AWAY. But, on the other hand, I've always loved other baked goods like cookies, cake, brownies...
  9. I had an ok experience at my local grocery store today. They had samples out all over the store, which I normally try to avoid eye contact so they don't ask me. But these two guys asked me anyway (it was some bowtie pasta, and then some roasted chicken)... to which I said "only if it's gluten free." They sort of had blank looks on their faces, so I rephrased...
  10. The original symptom I had that made me seek help is bone hypersensitivity (sometime around '93). Over the years I got sent to a couple rheumatologists, physical therapy, and a spine/sports specialist, none of which had the answer. I would go through phases where I would tell myself "this is not normal, someone should be able to diagnose this" and then...
  11. I got tested for food allergies (prior to looking into celiac disease), and the test came back with TONS of food allergies. None of which I had ever noticed a reaction to before. Has anyone else experienced what I would call an "over-diagnosis" where they say you have tons of allergies you don't really have? I had the IgG Antibody Assessment through Genova...
  12. I have a hard time because I don't have any symptoms to alert me if I've eaten gluten. The only potential symptom I have is bone hypersensitivity, but it hasn't gotten better since starting the gluten-free diet. I sort of wish I had some immediate symptoms.
  13. I'm taking Nature Made, which is what Costco sells. It says "No gluten" right on the bottle. Looks like they have a website, too: www.NatureMade.com
