  1. We ate at Ristorante Camponeschi near Campo de Fiori in Rome. It was more expensive that we usually ate, but the food was GREAT, and they had gluten free pasta. I had a celiac restaurant guide, but we spent more time trying to find the places they listed and ended up having good luck just asking the host. I ate a lot of steak and caprese salad. Almost...
  2. I hope I'm not too late -- We were just at Atlantis in March. We rented a condo at Harborside, so I cooked all of our meals. Wouldn't have been my idea of a vacation in the pre-celiac days - but that's the way we roll now I packed gluten-free spaghetti, spag sauce, brown rice, dehydrated mashed potatoes, cheese sticks, gluten-free crackers, wraps, smart...
  3. Have you been tested for B12 deficiency? I was diagnosed a year ago and still was experiencing fatigue. Thought it was my thyroid again, and my doc (not my GI) suggested a B12 test too. Sure enough, thyroid was fine but I had a B12 deficiency. I eat about a dozen eggs a week, so it sounds suspiciously malabsorption-related. I'm taking shots now and feeling...
  4. Hello! My husband and I booked a 2 week trip to Italy before I was diagnosed with Celiac, so I was very disappointed, to say the least! But, it was no problem at all! A few restaurants even had gluten free pasta and almost all knew exactly what I was talking about. In fact, there was a young woman with celiac eating in a small bar in Rome when I was trying...
  5. My son (12 yrs) was diagnosed in August about 3 months after I received my diagnosis. I ordered a book called "The Gluten Free Kid; A Celiac Disease Survival Guide" by Melissa London. It is funny, illustrated (reads almost like a comic book) and written for the "tween" age range. She gives all the info on what the disease is and what you can eat without...
  6. Have you had your thyroid checked? Hypothyroidism can also cause "brain fog" symptoms and celiacs have a higher incidence of thyroid issues. I also had horrible anxiety/ADD/brain fog troubles before my dx. But I still know when my thyroid meds need to be kicked up a notch because I can't remember the words for anything! Good luck!
