I am new to this forum and looking for answers and was hoping someone could help.
I have been having symptoms similar to celiac for the past 4 months (possibly mild symptoms my whole life) and appear to have some response to a gluten free diet but doesn't seem as good as it could be. I am awaiting some blood tests but I am not certain it will be positive and wondering if anything else could be causing my symptoms.
Anyways, I was wondering if there was some sort of quality information on this site or a link to another site to help identify G-I problems? I have already been to webmd and wrong diagnosis but both are poorly built and don't really provide the data in a category format. Wrongdiagnosis doesn't even come up with C-Diff as a possible diagnosis when you search for foul smelling stool. Nevertheless, I am looking for a list of "all" possible/probable G-I problems along with some sort of probabilities. I have spent days scouring the internet but most of the data seems scattered and handful of standard illnesses come up all the time, such as e-coli, salmonella, IBD, IBS, celiac, etc...
For example, I have been tested twice for e-coli but according to the CDC there are only 70,000 infections per year. If you assume an e-coli infection lasts for about 2 weeks, you could estimate that at any given point in time, the odds of intestinal symptoms being caused by e-coli to be ~1/300,000. Celiac has odds of 1/133. It seems obvious that the doctor should test for Celiac but why do I have to tell them to? Does anyone have a listing like that? How many other common diseases are they just not screening for? What do I have to tell the doctors to test for(other then celiac)?
Also, I am having a mild case of prostatitis (never had this before) and my eyes itch? I have never had any intestinal problems except for a C-diff infection in 2003 and urgency of BM with mold exposure. Any ideas would be appreciated. (Very Appreciated) I am also trying to find any environmental related cause, contaminated water lines in the home, etc... that could cause an extended illness.
I wish everyone well!
