  1. Tabasco, I feel for you and I understand your anger. It took 25 years for me to realize that I should ask for a gluten test - and my results were off the chart. Had complained to several doctors about ALWAYS being sick when I ate, but not one suggested gluten. After years of research and testing, I finally figured it out myself. What is even more incredible...
  2. Glutenfreepi, I think the recovery time after a Celiac diagnoses is very individual. It has taken me almost three years to feel I am finally recovered, and I am finally 100 % gluten free. My symptoms were never as severe as yours were, yet I felt I wanted to die after eating because of the cramping, diarrhea, and the depression I had all the time. I...
  3. Hi Goatmilkpowder, I had a similar experience. I grew up in Norway where I was often sick after I ate - and I could never understand why. After I came to the United States the first time as a 17 year old, I got MUCH worse, although it would take another 30 + years for me to get diagnosed with Celiac. An autoimmune disease like Celiac can become...
  4. Jerseyangel, Just like you, I have found more sensitivities since I went gluten free. I believe I had those sensitivities all along, but could not find them as long as I was eating gluten. It takes time, but it pays off when you feel yourself getting healthier.
  5. RiceGuy, Your reply is very interesting. I have recently learned about Bromalain, and have used it once in awhile to calm my stomach down, but I am not sure I use it properly. I will look more at the link you provided; I appreciate the help to learn more! I am so amazed about how much I am learning about all this. Makes life interesting. :-) Perhaps...
  6. This link says that citric acid made from wheat is so "processed" that it no longer contains any gluten: Open Original Shared Link Not sure I believe that or not. This web site suggests that citric acid COULD contain gluten: Open Original Shared Link This web site tells us that 90 % of citric acid is made from corn - and some of the last 10 % may...
  7. Pele, Thank you for your input. I am learning so much! Your comment just confirms what I have found out today: citric acid is not always made from fruit. I am going to stay away from it. Since I was so sick earlier today, I ate again once my stomach settled down. I ate something without citric acid, and I was fine. Great discovery! NO more...
  8. I have been gluten free for about 2 1/2 years, and, for the most part, I am feeling OK. However, there is something that still bothers me at times, and I wonder if it could be citric acid. I ate earlier today, and had no stomach pain, yet a few hours later, after eating some gluten-free cookies which contains citric acid, I got the worst stomach ache...
  9. I agree with "mindwiped" - call your doctor again, or find another doctor who might try some other thyroid med's. There are so many different ones; and the binding agents and/or fillers in some of them could bother you, even if it is gluten free. My old thyroid med's (T3/T4 compounded) had to be lactose free. I would get sick within 2 or 3 days on a thyroid...
  10. Hi Lexi, I hope you are doing OK on your med's for Candida. I have studied Candida quiet a bit since I am susceptible to yeast infections, but I have never asked to be tested for Candida. You are lucky to have a doctor who will even consider Candida, let alone actually diagnose it. Hang in there - life does get better after a while "AC"!
  11. When I get bad stomach issues once in a while due to other food sensitivities in addition to the Celiac, I used Garlic tablets, and acidophiles. Both help regulate my stomach and intestines. It takes a while with the Garlic, but it works, at least for me. Garlic is a natural anti-biotic of sorts. Somebody else here suggested cutting out dairy;...
  12. I am happy to read about the good results with Armour. I hope I can say the same in a few months. I just started taking Armour today.
  13. I went to my regular MD yesterday; she agreed to put me on Armour, even agreed with the way I wanted to take it (read about how to slowly increase the dose until I feel better) and in general was very supportive of my going off my compounded T3/T4 which is not working as well as I think it should. Today I started with my Armour and I am looking forward...
  14. I am so glad to read your simple comment about Armour since I want to change over to Armour after my thyroid test this coming week. Will ask my MD for it, but am not sure she will do it. My naturopath will not do Armour, either, so I am thinking about going to another naturopath who works at my chiropractor's office... If you are still online, and...
  15. Oh, my goodness! How awful! I do not have any ideas for you, but simply wanted to let you know that your son's story touched me deeply. I hope the test results will come back with some good answers. How old is your son? Hugs from Oregon :-)
