About Me

Background: Back in 1999 I was found to have anemia (no other symptoms) went to GI doctor and had colon and endoscopies. He found nothing, suggested I might have celiac sprue but was adament that I should worry about any diet changes. Just this year, my wife had a colonoscopy by one of the doctors from my first GI doctor's practice. Just in converstation I mentioned my 1999 "diagnosis" and he asked "Are you still keeping the diet?" "No, Dr. ? said I didn't need to" "You might want to come see me or one of my colleagues, celiac disease is progressive." Dr. ? is no longer at this practice. I went to my family doctor and he ordered blood work which came back with high antibody levels so he referred me to the orignal practice and I saw a different doctor other than my wife's. He did and endoscopy on March 5th, 2009 and gave me the official diagnosis on March 24th. Now I've never really had any major symptoms like diarrhea, et.al. Just perhaps weight loss and the anemia. I started the diet back on March 5th, 2009 and I am sticking to it following the guidelines "celiac.com, The Gluten Free Bible, Gluten-Free Cooking for Dummies, et.al.

John, March 30th, 2009.

  1. I buy two boxes every time I go to Bi-Lo!
  2. Not to me. About the Corn Chex that is. Haven't seen the Gluten Free box of Corn Chex yet. Have seen the Honey and Rice with Gluten Free on the front at Walmart. Good to hear about the Corn Chex.
  3. Thanks. I didn't know. Do they have lists? My local Bi-Lo is putting together a list.
  4. Publix is a big grocery chain there too.
