You are right, Peter, and I am sorry I panicked! Thanks so much for your prompt clarification.

Hi! The Outback Steakhouse (an Australian chain) offers a gluten-free menu! Check out the locations (www.outback.com). I have never been in one of them, since I am a foodie too, but would now definitely consider it.

[Hi GottaSki,
I am a newbie too! No, I do not have children (by choice). It is definitely an advantage to be diagnosed early. Looking back at my childhood, I now clearly see the symptoms of celiac: Many headaches, always thin, after age 20 migraines from the pill and occcasionally from drinking alcohol, very severe menstrual pain every month, same weight since age 20 (have never been on a diet!). During the last 10 years other symptoms developed and finally my alternative medicine/chiropractor diagnosed celiac. I have not found a medical doctor yet that understands celiac. However, knowing now what celiac is all about, I will have patience and hope that some of the damage (neurological, intestinal, etc.) will eventually disappear and hopefully I can stay away from doctors.
Yes, my Mom has Sjoegren's, but her blood test showed negative for celiac. Either the test was wrong, or she really does not have celiac. She is 86 and she said at her age she does not want to pursue a gluten-free diet and does not really care about the celiac part. I definitely suspect my father was celiac (died of Alzheimer's) and there are many relatives on his side that have Alzheimer's, Osteoporosis and Psoriasis.

Because I deleted my personal info. immediately. It was there. Possible that it was a cookie issue and I was logged in, as Peter mentioned. At any rate, I was able to delete all my data. Thanks for input.

I am not sure this is correct. By accident, I discovered a link from my profile in Google (celiac and headaches) and when I clicked on it it took me right to my full name, address and location! This is shocking. I now deleted my personal name/address info.

I have seen many people on these posts giving suggestions on alcoholic drinks that you can still have even with celiac disease. But I was wondering how many of you actually drink actively with celiac disease, and what you drink that has worked for you with no problems. I am 26 years old and used to drink beer on the weekends at social events and occasionally jack and coke, but since having problems I hadn't had a beer in 2 or 3 months, then when I found out I had celiac, I tried redbridge. its not too bad, but I was just curious what else any of you drink that works well. I know of alot of the stuff that you CAN drink with celiac, just curious what some of you DO drink if you do. thanks
I have been drinking wine daily for 40 years; however, about once a month it triggered a severe migraine. It has now gotten so bad that I finally stopped drinking any alcohol two weeks ago. This was the most difficult thing to do, since I really enjoy wine with a meal. There is no question in my mind that celiac is the root cause for this intolerance and sensitivity to alcohol. According to the doctor I am allergic to red wine, and white wine raises my blood sugar so that I wake up at 3 a.m. and stay awake for hours. I will stay away from any alcohol for awhile until my intestinal track has fully recovered from the gluten exposure and then try again to reintroduce wine or vodka (Chopin) martinis.

We're spending two weeks on the train bumming around France, Germany, and Switzerland. We've traveled through Europe before, but not to these specific cities. Can anyone recommend anything tasty to check out? We'll probably hit up Frankfurt, Germany, and Lausanne, Switzerland, as well.
I'm checking out some links from a previous post about Paris. I'm practically drooling on my keyboard, and anxious to hit the road.
Thanks!
Stephanie
In Zurich, the restaurant Cantinetta Antinori (expensive though) near the famous Bahnhofstrasse offers gluten-free pasta. The supermarkets Migros and Coop sell gluten-free items.

[it seems to me that the medical community is stuck in a paradigm. It was my chiropractor/kinesiologist who finally got it after three years of dealing with all my issues. I had THREE saliva tests that were positive on gluten, but neither he nor me got it until three months ago when his WIFE tested positive. When I mentioned celiac to my brother-in-law who is a family doctor and asked him about whether he has treated any celiac patients, his response was: I had maybe a few, but I do not bother with diarrhea people and send them to the GI! Here we go, the medical community thinks it is all about diarrhea!!! I am so frustratedwith doctors that I try to stay away from them. My chiropractor/kinesiologist can read my body like a book and has helped me more than any doctor out there who is only pushing drugs.
