  1. anyone here experience ONLY digestive problems?
  2. If I truly do have a gluten intolerance, would I be experiencing D daily? I seem to go back and forth between C and D. Then every few weeks I'll wake up with terrible watery D for a day or 2. What were your patterns like prior to being diagnosed?
  3. I am being evaluated for celiac. I have noticed that within the past few months I have began hearing a drastic increase in digestive noises. (OF ALL KINDS!) It happens on and off all day and night! It's sooo loud. anyone else have this as a symptom? did it go away after going gluten-free? how long did it take?
  4. First let me say that I haven't been diagnosed officially when celiac. I just began a gluten-free trial less than a week ago. I was diagnosed with IBS about a year ago. From my understanding, one of the classic symptoms of microscopic colitis is watery diarrhea, correct? I have experienced a pattern like this the past month or so: -woke up with watery...
  5. I'm currently sharing a kitchen with someone who isn't gluten-free, but doing everything she can to keep me from getting glutened. She often eats gluten-free with me, but I have a couple of questions. Say if she is cooking pasta on a burner next my gluten-free pasta, is there a risk of CC? And if we are using an oven at the same time and her food contains...
  6. Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone!
  7. Unfortunately I'm trying to stay away from corn at the moment. But thanks for the suggestion anyways..I probably should have noted that in my post.
  8. I was wondering what flour you use to make a roux or to thicken things? I would prefer one that is inexpensive... Also, what about a gluten-free flour that can be used as a binder in something like potato pancakes? Thanks
  9. Is watery D a typical symptom associated with celiac? Or is the D they talk about just more loose?
  10. Anyone experience having to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom before going gluten-free? I've experienced this 2 nights now. (Each night I only went once, but still)
  11. For the past few months I have began experiencing a rash that comes and goes. It's light pink in color, flat, and itches occassionally (sometimes I get a prickly feeling with it other times it's visible but doesn't itch. It also seems to get worse just after a hot shower.) I have read about DH and it does not look like that. Are there other rashes associated...
  12. Yeah, for the 2 weeks, I didn't eat out and I only prepared whole foods. I only used the stainless steel cookwear and bought myself new plastic utensils. I was very strict about it but like I said, within the 2 weeks I saw absolutely no change.
  13. I definitely prefer corn pasta to rice pasta.
  14. I'm sure this question gets asked frequently, and for that I apologize. I also understand that there is quite a range in time frames from one individual to another. I've never been tested for celiac, as I don't have insurance or the money to pay for doctor visits. During the summer, I attempted a gluten free diet for about 2 weeks. I found absolutely no...
  15. I love polenta. I grill mine. (so good, but you could also just fry in olive oil) then I make a wild mushroom herbed ragu to pour over it. Or you could also do a polenta napoleon. Use polenta as the base and layer it with vegetables (mushroom, zucchini, onions, whatever you like) cheese (if you can tolerate it) and then a little drizzle of pesto...
  16. Although I can't say I feel emotional lately, I definitely understand what you're saying as far as trying to go gluten free without an official diagnosis. I was also diagnosed with IBS and haven't found anything to help. So I've put myself on a gluten-free diet to see if I improve. So far I've been on it for 11 days and have seen no improvement. It's hard...
  17. About a year ago, I was diagnosed with IBS. (Never tested for celiac.) Nothing has helped my IBS. I have tried dietary differences, medicine, and I am not under stress. I have began to play with the idea that I could have celiac. (As you know, the symptoms of IBS AND celiac disease are so similar!) I don't have insurance and it's the most frustrating...
  18. Thanks for replying, everyone. I am currently diagnosed with IBS but am looking into celiac. I have been gluten-free for about a week and haven't noticed any difference. (I know it takes longer, it's just hard because I don't even have a formal diagnosis so my change in diet could very well end up being a waste of time, efforts, and money.) I know it...
  19. I've been on a gluten free diet for about a week and haven't noticed any relief. We'll see if I improve over time or not..
  20. Let me start by saying I have NOT been officially diagnosed with celiac. I was diagnosed with IBS, but sometimes question the validity. The left side rib discomfort is the one symptom that started everything for me. I started having that discomfort (left side right below the ribs and it feels like there is something pushing up against my ribs, or that...
  21. YES! That is sounds a lot like me. It's like my ribs feel like they're resting on something. It doesn't hurt, it's just terribly uncomfortable. And like you said, my episodes of diarrhea started with extreme pain, heart racing, overall feeling of being ill. These episodes have only happened a few times. I just experience abdominal discomfort...
  22. I read that a lot of people initially get misdiagnosed with IBS (or other disorders/diseases.) Anyone here get diagnosed with IBS before getting diagnosed with celiac disease? What was that process like for you? How about symptoms? And finally, recovery?
  23. Thank you! Learning all this new stuff can be so frustrating. I'm trying to find a good gluten free corn tortilla too. I have the kroger brand of those as well (can you tell what my favorite store is? haha) I don't see any obvious gluten ingredients but I'm not sure about some of the preservatives. Anyone care to help me, pllleaaase? I tried calling...
  24. I'm still learning! I'm looking for a gluten free hot sauce that I can find in the regular grocery store.. I have Kroger brand but I'm hesitant to use it without knowing. The ingrediets are: Aged Cayenne Red Peppers Distilled Vinegar Salt Xanthan gum dehydrated garlic ?? thanks!
  25. I'm not the OP, but I would love this recipe!
