ARCHIVED Making My Own Cleaning, Bath, And Beauty Products
ann72601 replied to ann72601's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I wanted to add: I use distilled vinegar from a wood source because of my additional allergies/sensitivites to all grains. It would pay to check if you're extremely sensitive. -

What great ideas!! I'm so glad you're sharing these here. I'm new to this and my products are very basic so far. I was having problems in the kitchen because even the best cleaners I could find had corn, which I am very allergic to. My solution was my grandmother's and I don't have an exact formula yet, but this is working so far. kitchen and bath... -
ARCHIVED Is Fresh Produce Glutened? Help!

Anything too sweet has been a problem but I could probably dilute it starting out. I will order the oil today. I actually contacted them this morning to make sure the vitamin E was not from grain, which it was not. Another good thing to know for those who can't handle grains. I can't wait to try the coconut milk. I never thought about it, and it's so... -

That's fantastic! I will look for the book. Do you have a simple one you could share in the meantime? Thank you so much for the info. -

I have become so tired of trying to find suitable cleaning products that will not leave me sick with allergic reactions, sensitivities and glutening, that I have decided to make them all. I was thinking of what our mothers and grandmothers, and so on.......used before we could buy them off the shelves and thought there has to be lots I can do with baking... -
ARCHIVED Is Fresh Produce Glutened? Help!
ann72601 replied to ann72601's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you so much. It would probably be easier to give you what I CAN have. I can only eat one item at a time, 2 hours apart to avoid reactions. However by the end of the day, I react to anything. I assume my gut is full?? Here goes: some fish, but cod looks alright for now; most fruits except for the sweet ones like cantaloupe, peach, blueberry, pineapple... -
ARCHIVED Is Fresh Produce Glutened? Help!
ann72601 replied to ann72601's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't ate anything except plain, unseasoned veggies and fruits. I cut the seasonings and dips 3 weeks ago. I can't find any nutritional product, like B12 that isn't at least rice-based and I'm very allergic to rice. The dogs, since they went to the groomer, could be the problem??? They are small and all over the place, including me. Thank you again... -
ARCHIVED Is Fresh Produce Glutened? Help!

I did do the complete switch in cosmetics, bath, laundry and kitchen products. I'm still not sure about Cascade though. Any thoughts on that would be welcome. I have many food allergies: Soy, rice, eggs, beef, casein, milk, poultry, and a few in each food group. I'm basically down to a few veggies and a very few fruits. Sugar content seems to be a culprit... -
I have not been successful in going a single day without glutening myself. Either that or I have some terrible allergic reactions. Anyway, I'm trying to track down the source of gluten and I'm left with 1) dog conditioner from the groomers 2) touching something and possibly putting my hands in my mouth?? or 3) Contaminated veggies or fruits. I can change...

ARCHIVED Gluten/grain Free Supplements?

I am 7 weeks into gluten-free living but have run into multiple sensitivies and allergies including beef, casien, milk, chicken, turkey, eggs, some legumes, some fruits, some veggies and I react to sugar in any form. Since I live in a rural area, I haven't been able to locate a good doctor that will stick with me throughout this process and I am really suffering... -
I truly appreciate the help that is given to me by the kind and seasoned folks here. I always leave feeling not only more informed, but hopeful. Thank you so much. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!! Ann

I was wondering the same thing. I bought organic nuts and dried fruits from the health food store. They couldn't tell me whether they were prepared in a gluten-free environment since they were packaged in plain, unlabeled plastic bags. I'm afraid to eat them!! I'm new at all of this and have made at least one mistake every day for the 6+ weeks I've been...

ARCHIVED Conflicting Information In Product Guides

I found malt vinegar in the 2009 Clan Thompson Pocket Guide to Foods that are safe. My sources are not Internet, but books that I have bought through this site as well as ones through Celiac sites such as Clan Thompson. I am new to this journey and I asked for guidance on choosing the right publications. When I bought three books, I noticed that they differed... -

ARCHIVED Conflicting Information In Product Guides
ann72601 replied to ann72601's topic in Publications & Publicity
I'm not sure how many examples you are wanting, but 'malt' is one. I have compared Clan Thompson with the unsafe list on Celiac.com and that's where I've found most of the conflicts. The other has been having a reaction to malt vinegar, and several other hidden ingredients. You can go so many websites to compare products, for example: www.healthcastle... -

Thank you so much for this information. I am a basket case trying to figure all this out. I'm finding out that I don't really trust anything in a package, by trial and error(ssss), of course. I seem to make nothing but mistakes and keep myself accidentially glutened since I started this journey 5 weeks ago and wondering if I'll ever get it right. Thanks... -
I'm hoping someone will be able to help me find cookbooks or recipes for celiac and other food allergies. I just had some testing done and found out that I was also allergic to casein, eggs, milk, turkey, chicken, beef, corn.. and those are just the ones on the severe level and the ones that I don't know how to avoid when cooking. I don't know how to be...

Hi Sue, Yes, I have it too. I can't think of anything that hasn't been tried to resolve the issue until recently. My doctor finally ran some food allergy tests on me and found that I had severe allergies to casein, eggs(white and yolk), milk, soy, chicken, and then some moderate to mild reactions to many other common foods. When these were eliminated...

ARCHIVED Is Miralax Gluten-free?

Thank you. I'm new and confused. -
Thanks for the heads up about the Xanax. I went online and found it and it was gluten-free. I didn't know anything about Xanax but it has helped with the nervous system. I was worried about addiction, but it helps so much that I don't want to think about it too much right now. I'm having a bad time as I am still new to the celiac lifestyle. I will keep...

Oh my.........I just don't know. I check everything so carefully and still this happened. I've not slept all night. I get ringing in the ears, heartburn, nausea, my colon just stops workin and sits there like I'm going to birth an alien; I tingle down my arms and hands and they swell, my feet swell; I have heart palpitations, I can't breathe, my lung burns...
