  1. Does anyone know since Celiac is an autoimmune disorder, does that make a person with it more likely to have bad reactions to the chemicals in the vaccine? I know you can sometimes get the vaccine without Thimerosal; does that make it better for the person with Celiac? Or is there no difference? My 6 yr old has Down syndrome and possible Autism as well...
  2. My 6 yr old son with Celiac (and Down Syndrome and possibly Autism) has always been constipated on and off. I thought the gluten-free diet would make it worse because he has lost the fiber in the whole wheat breads he used to eat and I was right. I am going to try adding flax seed, but something that usually helps him is a product called Juice + Fiber....
  3. Wow, I have to hunt that one down! Many thanks!
  4. Thanks! Any idea what grocery chain sells it? I haven't seen that brand here in PA. Take care.
  5. As the mom of a newly diagnosed child, I am experiencing great anxiety about differing opinions on things such as Gum Arabic. On this site, it's listed under Safe Ingredients, however, on csaceliacs.org in the "Teacher's Letter" it is listed as unsafe. Since my son will probably be using stickers at school, this is something I would like to know. If it...
  6. What sort of brown syrup do you mean? Thanks. Tracey mom to 6 yr old son with C.D., Down syndrdome and possible Autism
  7. I was totally unimpressed by Pamela's Pancake Mix...completely bland, no flavor whatsoever. This is why I'm going to make my own. I used to make homemade ones every Sunday so it's nothing I'm not used to.
  8. At last! Someone else who hates real maple syrup! LOL Re: the gluten-free pancakes...I feel your pain. However, I tried this recipe and I think it has promise; it does not taste like my homemade buttermilk pancakes, but it's much better than a mix. It actually has some flavor: Open Original Shared Link Haven't tried these, but I intend to...
  9. We were just talking about making the 38 mile trip to Wegman's in Downingtown! I will definitely be making that trip SOON now! My husband just bought some syrup made from brown rice and it looks absolutely dreadful. Ugh. Thanks for the info!
  10. Hi everyone. Could anyone recommend a syrup that tastes like Aunt Jemima but is guaranteed gluten-free? My 6 yr old son has many feeding issues/problems and I just found out he has Celiac. I am desperate to find a syrup like Aunt Jemima for him to eat or my life will be even more hellish. Please help. I live in PA if that helps for you to know what kind...
  11. A bit off topic but...Jenny, I was excited to see in your signature that your son did not have a biopsy done either! We thought we were the only people on earth who didn't get their child a biopsy. Our Conor had two positive results from two different labs and we just can't understand why a biopsy is needed other than for the surgery happy gastroenterologist...
  12. Hi! I sent away for a Zojirishi breach machine and I am assuming I will only be able to use it to make gluten-free free breads, correct? Thanks! Tracey mom of 6 yr old with Celiac
  13. Hi. I would love to corresond with you regarding this as my 6 yr old son (who also has Down syndrome) has had 2 positive blood tests and I am leery of the endoscopy. I too, heard the "Gold Standard" term used frequently but no one would ever elaborate when I asked questions! Was your son put under general anesthesia or the other kind where they're only...
  14. Hi. My 6 yr old son had 2 blood tests done indicating Celiac and my husband and I are thinking along the exact same lines as you although I do not know if it is different for a child. How are you doing by now? Tracey
