  1. I went gluten and dairy without getting tests etc. It was spurred on by the fact that I had been eating 'healthily', going to the gym 3 times a week and doing proper training, cycling and all in all looking after myself, but all the excess weight and generally feeling rubbish had not changed in a year. I got some interesting nutritional guidance from my...
  2. Yep, I think I can narrow mine down to eating things that I haven't eaten for a *long* time, so my body is going 'what on earth is THAT?!'. I've always eaten fruit and veg, but new things (to me) like avocado and certain types of pate are certainly new kids on the block to my healing insides. As I said though, for me I feel absolutely great, so I'm not too...
  3. Thank you all - certainly some great ideas there! I do love apple and peanut butter - I am just wary of eating too much in the nut department! The fritata idea is a great one - sadly no microwave, but I'd be very happy to eat that cold for breakfast! Yum!
  4. Well, given that I've only been gluten-free & DF for not quite two weeks, I'm not sure I can answer that! All I know is that I have had no sign of the awful bloating, headaches, fatigue and horrendous curl up and die stomach cramps that I had so often before. As for other food intolerances, well, some people are going to experience this more than others...
  5. Hi there. Yes, they can be expensive. I don't buy them since I've found that I can manage quite happily without! I just eat meat, fish, fruit, veg... but that's just me! To be honest (and I think some other people might agree), it might be better to steer clear from all the gluten-free goodies for a little while, until your insides get back to being...
  6. Ugh, wishing you better! I felt as if I had eaten a rock and it was just sitting there, weighing me down and causing me pain... no more for me!
  7. I have found that since going gluten-free and DF that I can't eat eggs if they're hard-boiled and bananas are now a problem also... it's very strange...
  8. It's the casein.... And to be honest, now I've been doing some reading about how de-natured our milk is these days, I wouldn't go back to it if I could! Thank you!
  9. That is exactly what I am experiencing, although I am barely 2 weeks in to being gluten (and dairy) free. For the first few days, that was all that I got, but now I seem to have settled down into the D in the morning several times, followed by normal behaviour. I don't know what it is. I don't even feel that I am suffering as I feel so much better than...
  10. Thank you both! I guess it's me just having to get used to not eating typical breakfast-type foods any more. I've steered away from rice cakes for now as cooked rice justs makes me blow up like a balloon in any case (not sure why!), but I have eaten them quite a bit in the past. Eggs - I love them, but now that I've cleared all the gluten and dairy...
  11. Agh. I am having no problem really with suddenly going gluten and dairy free, except for breakfast. I need to have a high protein intake in my diet as I crash and burn on carbs all too easily. Since starting this new way of eating 11 days ago, I have been eating a lot of nuts, especially at breakfast - generally some fresh fruit (but no bananas, they don...
  12. Thank you so much for your lovely reply! TBH, I think I'm just grateful that I found the source of the problems! I've also noticed that I find bananas and salted peanuts difficult to deal with - so they'll be coming out of my eating regime for a while. Yes, I am soo lucky to be in this situation and I really feel for people who are struggling. Take...
  13. Hi there I'm newer to this than you are BUT I totally identify with your symptoms of gaining weight on gluten (and for me that was despite 'healthy' eating and a rigorous exercise plan) and now losing without (I'm also now dairy free). Being in close contact with someone who understands nutrition from a professional standpoint, I would suspect that your...
  14. Hi there I've been looking at this forum for the past day or so and it looks a great place to be. As my name suggests, I'm from the UK, but I don't think the general experiences differ...! I don't have a celiac diagnosis, but I do have an intolerance to gluten and dairy. I doscovered this almost by accident - after a year of going to a gym and doing...
