  1. Thank goodness my other half is good with a grill and we live in Arizona, where it's still warm enough to use it! Thanks so much for not making me feel like an idiot. I'm a smart gal, but there's a LOT of information to take in. Sheesh!
  2. I like this logic. I've been employing the "fewer ingredients=better" logic, but I'll take it to the next step and try to eat things in their most natural forms and see what happens. I feel so much better now, just off gluten and dairy, that I'm amazed! Thanks for the help.
  3. That totally makes sense. That's why it was easy to figure out the dairy thing--because everything I was eating was so simple. Right now I'm a little suspicious about eggs, so I may leave those alone for a bit then eat some alone and see what happens. Thanks!
  4. Thank you, thank you! Yes, this is really helpful. I appreciate the breakdown of what I CAN eat--makes it simpler to get my mind around.
  5. Thanks for this info! I just put in a call to Pacifica to find out the same thing and had to leave a message. I love their products and was concerned that the vitamin e they use might be from a wheat source. I'm so happy to know it's not! I'll still inquire when they call me back to see if anything has changed, and if it has I'll post here.
  6. I don't mean to be dense, but I guess I don't quite understand what constitutes "processed." I get the obvious things like pre-made breads, crackers, cookies and pre-made meals, etc.--but is, say, brown rice "processed" or no? Soy milk? And can I use salt and pepper on my food or are those also processed?
  7. I'm new here and have been reading a lot of these posts, and I'm realizing that even though I'm really carefully gluten free, I'm probably not eating things that are helping me heal since I am (actually was until I had a horrible reaction today) still eating dairy and have just subbed in some gluten-free crackers and bread products and pastas. I keep reading...
  8. Thank you so much for posting this list. I am recently gluten free (have been on gluten-free diet for a couple of months but just this past week got rid of the lip balms, skin creams, etc. that were still making me sick) and today I ate a small bowl of rice chex with whole milk and had violent cramping and sweating and sickness within 15 minutes. Completely...
  9. I just did the same research--I was so bummed when I thought I would have to give up my Mac lipstick, too--and some of them I did have to get rid of, but luckily my favorites turned out to be gluten free, thank goodness!
  10. This one freaked me out! I've thought of the shared knife in the mayonaise or butter, but I hadn't thought of someone who is eating gluten reaching into the same chip bag. Wow. It's so overwhelming to keep track of!
  11. Oh! And the pet food! You mean some celiacs react to handling their pets' food if the pet's food isn't gluten free? We have two dogs and we keep their food in bins, so I'm sure I'm breathing particles of it when I'm dishing up their food every day...I don't even know if their food has gluten in it and we always get rid of the bags, so I'll have to look...
  12. I already avoid artificial sweeteners of any kind (they give me migraines) and I don't use anything scented since most everything (especially anything floral or powdery) gives me a headache or makes me nauseous, so I don't think it's that... I wish I could just sort out if it's a food thing or a contact dermatitis thing. Is there any way to determine...
  13. Hi All, This is my first post here. I've just joined today, and am hoping to find support/guidance/information. I'm feeling really frustrated and overwhelmed the last few days. My story in a nutshell: My mom is a very severe celiac, but somehow I didn't know it was hereditary until I was talking to a naturopath about 6 months ago. I'd been...
  14. Whew! I'm finally registered. It took three tries with three different e-mail addresses to finally get in, since the first two didn't generate a confirmation e-mail but the site was telling me I couldn't use that e-mail address when I tried to re-register because it was already in use (by me, even though the login wouldn't accept the username or password...
