  1. Hi, I had to eat gluten to get my biopsy done and then another blood test for confirmation of Celiac. It was positive positive! During the next 8 weeks, I experienced what you wrote about. I found that staying away from highly acidic, spicy, alcoholic, dairy, and high fat content items exacerbated the situation. So, I laid off the extremes and I am getting...
  2. I went to see the Gastro and the result was that an endoscopy needs to be done. In order for a "good" test result to be available, I have to ingest gluten. First it was going to be for 30 days, but I was able to reduce the time to only 3 weeks. This has been the most miserable month of my life. June 29 and counting.

    Into May

It is now the middle of May. Where does the time go? I have been trying to read as much as I can, and although I am not able to read much, I have found some interesting pieces of information from Dr. Green's book Celiac Disease; a Hidden Epidemic. Apparently the tip of the villa in the small intestine is where the enzymes are that break down milk proteins...
  4. Thanks for the head's up on the Nightshades. I have found that tomatoes, peppers both sweet and spicy, and some potato products do "mess" me up. Potatoes, not so much. I found a website that listed the amount of the ingredient/component in the night shade family that interacts with people and the potato had the lowest amount. Eggplant, I believe was at the...

    Lately...

I have been Gluten Free for about 3 months now. I guess I should re-phrase...I have been aware of and learning to stay away from gluten-laden food items for about 3 months now. I think I am healing and my intestines seem to be getting back to "better." After a post on the forum regarding feeling horrible a few days after eating spicy foods when it had a chance...
  7. Nightshades. I have heard of that before, but I guess I need to do some more research. thanks for the lead and a possible direction to go in.
  8. Icky is a word that I have been using lately. I don't like using it because it reminds me that I don't feel good, great, wonderful, or ready to take on the day. I have a co-worker that has a sixth sense. She can "see" the color in people. I call her my barometer. When I start to feel this "ick" I walk over to her and she takes one look at me and gives...
  9. Hello. I am a 40-something mother of 3 and have been recently diagnosed with celiac. I am in the process of learning all I can.

  10. I also have just been officially diagnosed with Celiac via blood test. I have had stomach aches, cramps, and irregular digestion for longer than I can remember; at least 5 years if not more. I have had 3 miscarriages and wonder if they were related to undiagnosed celiac. I have read cookbooks on what to eat, I have read lists of those hidden ingredients to...
  11. Thank you for the responses. Now I am concerned about oats. The conclusion I am coming up with is that if you are suseptible to oats, you will react; if you aren't, you won't. I have a packet of Trader Joe's oatmeal with flax every morning with a packet of splenda. Splenda's website says it is gluten free (but it doesn't say the brown sugar is gluten free...
  12. Hello, through a series of conversations with my GP, he diagnosed me with Candida. I believe, however, that it is Celiac. My maternal Grandmother was diagonsed about 10-ish years prior to her death (2 years ago) at the age of 94. She had symptoms several years prior, but we aren't sure for how long. I would like to actually have the tests done and will be...
