  1. Man, I wish I needed to gain . It's funny I never realized how hard it is for some people to gain weight. I've always been one of the "fat" celiacs, but actually since going gluten-free, I have lost about 18 pounds in 2 months. Anyways, as weird as it sounds, have you tried letting yourself eat like 2 gluten-free candy bars a day? Or something like that...
  2. Okay, so I was wondering if anyone knows if fruit purees (used mostly in drinks like smoothies) has gluten in it? My boyfriend, who is a professional cook, says that a lot of times there are wheat thickeners in the purees but I was curious to know what you guys think. I checked the forbidden foods list on Celiac.com and it didn't mention anything about fruit...
  3. I've been getting B12 shots for the last two months and they help a lot. I highly reccomend them. Hang in there. Caryn
  4. Wow. I wish I could go to this. Luckily it sounds like the people who are getting to go will be able to give us a full review. Mel, Hang in there. I know how you are feeling. I just spent the last hour crying on the phone to my mom because I have been feeling so sh*tty. I had to go on a four day field trip with my college class and I accidently got...
  5. Hey, thanks for all the suggestions. It's so nice to know that you can survive college as a Celiac. It's been an interesting few weeks but I've been managing. One of my friends actually found a gluten-free rice noodle soup by Thai Kitchen that is really good and instant. It's nice because it even says it's gluten and Egg free on the package. College...
  6. I'm right now trying to get over a reaction from some sausages (I didn't think about the possibliy of a wheat filler). I normally get really sick to my stumach and feel like I want to throw up. And have to poop a lot. LOL. I normally eat the Garden Fresh bag salads and have had really good experiences. I have found that most of the bag salads they sell...
  7. I totally understand about the bathroom thing. It would just drive my family and friends crazy when I would have to stop every 100 ft. when I was having a reaction (this was before I found out about being Celiac). I think one of my worst experiences was when I went with my college dorm to Vancouver, Canada. I had such a bad reaction on the second day and...
  8. Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm right now in the process of contacting my college (it's hard right now 'cause I'm on break) but I'm hoping they can accomodate me. But really, thanks so, so, so much for the kind words and tips. I feel really lucky to have found this message board. Caryn
  9. A few days ago, I was diagnosed with being Celiac. My big problem is I am a freshman in College. I just don't know how to do this. Eating while in College is hard enough as it is, and now that I have extreme diet limitations, I feel like I am going to starve. I don't have a kitchen and all I have to cook with is a microwave. I just feel like crying. I have...
