  1. There is a local ice cream shop I like (haven't had ice cream since I developed a wheat allergy this past winter) and I asked to see the ingredients of their soft ice cream. They said they knew the basic hard ice creams were fine because they have Celiac customers. But they weren't sure about the soft. They use Welsh Farm products. I called Welsh Farm...
  2. I've looked into this and according to the major cruise lines, if you give them up to 3 weeks notice they will accomodate your needs and depending on the situation you may have to provide certain items for them to use in cooking. Now I haven't cruised since I developed my wheat/soy allergy but it was encouraging to know that with notice they would help out...
  3. The ritual of communion is symbolic. If you feel you need to participate in the ritual to feel spiritually whole, then I suggest you talk to your pastor about alternatives. Otherwise, know in your heart and deep meditation during the communion that you to are participating, that you are accepting the bread and the blood, visualize yourself taking part,...
  4. Is Ice Cream Gluten Free? vanilla, chocolate? How about some of the other specialty ones.., you know.., with fudge or chocolate chips?
  5. I just got my bloodwork back and the endo doc said I do not have Celiac's. My holistic doc said I had a wheat allergy/intolerance. My endo doc had me eat wheat for 3 weeks. This is day 10 since I stopped eating wheat again and am finally beginning to feel better (today, so far, has been my best day in a month.) From my short time here at this site,...
  6. I was told I had wheat allergy in the middle of December 09. I was suffering from wild anxiety for about 9 months and the last 3 were just very uncomfortable. A Holistic Doctor diagnosed my with the wheat allergy and we did an adrenal test as well. It turned out I had/have a moderate case of adreanl exhaustion. I started to feel better fairly quickly...
  7. I did my bloodwork last Monday (3/22) and I get my results tomorrow (3/30).
  8. You can certainly take the paths that are mentioned but I don't see how that will always help your perception. Or you could laugh about it with them - By entering into the same mode, you disarm them and eventually it won't be funny because there is no more fun to be made. Someone has to be the brunt and if you take that away, it then becomes boring. Embracing...
  9. If you have a Maggiano's by you, they will prepare meals gluten free for you. Since my wife and I like to go on cruises it was encouraging to see the major cruise lines will accomodate dietary needs so long as you give them 3 weeks notice prior to the cruise.
  10. I eliminated rye, barely, & oats all to be on the safe side. If the test comes back Celiac my path is paved; if it does not, my plan is to take 6 months or more off and then try having a few slices of pizza, have a beer and see how it goes. Not that I'm a drinker but I really do miss having a nice cold glass of Sam Adams. Budweiser makes a gluten free...
  11. See if your doctor can screen you for vitamin levels. Your vitamin D and B's may be way off. Have your hormone levels checked as well as your adrenals. Some regular doctors may balk at this approach, if they do, leave and see a holistic or integrative doctor.
  12. There is no way that I am going to revisit the wheat thing for at least 6 months (unless of course its a positive celiac). My holistic dr. said that he wanted me off for 6 months before trying to introduce again to see how things wouls react (because he thinks its an allergy). I was off wheat for 2.5 months (coffee/tea 2 weeks) before I really started to...
  13. Thanks for the replies - I guess I'll find out Tuesday(3/30) whether it's an allergy or Celiac's. Wednesday morning here...., things are getting better but still not a 100% - better than Monday so far, that's for sure.
  14. I went to see a new endocronologist in Februaruy. I told him that my holistic doctor said I had a wheat allergy in December 09. The endo wanted me to reintroduce wheat and such for 3 weeks and then get the bloodwork done to see if I truly had Celiac's or not. Now I believe that I don't have Celiac's as most of my symptoms aren't what most Celiac's have...
  15. It sounds like you may have both a hypothyroid issue and Celiacs - check it out with your Doctor.
