  1. We're headed out to the movies, is the popcorn and butter topping gluten-free? Thanks! Angie Never mind, I did a quick search and from a previous post it appears that AMC's popcorn is gluten-free.
  2. Thanks for putting it into perspective, Richard. Your explanation makes sense and gave me a good chuckle!
  3. I guess my thoughts are somewhat along the same lines as Viola. If celiacs are told to watch their shampoos, soaps, and makeup...then why wouldn't deoderant be on that list?
  4. My husband has been using Old Spice for over two years now and this past week has developed a painful rash that appears to be DH. He has been gluten-free since January 1....in my quirky mind it makes sense that since the rest of his body has rid itself of the gluten that this area would be attacked since it could be the only place receiving gluten. I read...
  5. Thanks! We're getting ready to head out of town, but I'll be sure to try this one out when we get home and let you know how it tasted. Just to clarify...the potato starch is NOT potato starch flour, right? It's the one that I would find in the Kosher section of the grocery store.....right?
  6. We ate at Chili's this afternoon. My husband had the ribeye, steamed broccoli, and plain mashed potatoes. He said everything tasted great and did not get sick!
  7. Hmmm...that's interesting. I wonder how long they suggest to nurse? I breastfed both of my boys and although we haven't had them tested they are having a positive response to being gluten-free. When my second son had gluten a week ago, his stools were white and runny. The rash on his arms and legs tripled in size( layers of bumps), and his mood was severly...
  8. Bavarian Cream Donuts! Pepperoni Rolls The middle of DQ cakes Good Crackers...that don't cost a fortune for 4 oz.! Brownies Warm and Soft Rolls with honey butter
  9. Thanks for posting your recipes. I'll be trying them out this week!
  10. Thank you for sharing!
  11. We'll be leaving for Ohio in a few weeks to visit family and we're concerned about the food situation during the road trip. We are staying overnight to and from Ohio. I'm planning on making reservations at Amerisuites or something similar that isn't too expensive, but does have a fridge/microwave. Those of you who are seasoned at this, can you offer little...
  12. Thank you for the suggestions ! Whatever the culprit was it has disappeared for now. He was feeling a bit better yesterday and much better today. I think it may have been some Jell-O Pudding that was on a safe list I found...but has modified food starch listed as an ingredient. Isn't that something that's questionable? I didn't realize that he had been...
  13. I'd like the egg recipe! I'm also a mission to find a tasty bread. I've experimented some, but we've only been gluten-free for a month, so I haven't gotten too far.
  14. That's great news!
  15. He has been gluten-free since January 1 and except for two mishaps during the first week (my fault with ingredients) he hasn't ingested any gluten. He's mainly sticking to meat, veggies, fruit, and rice. I've experimented with the different flours and have had some success in the kitchen, along with a few flops . Our two sons have also gone gluten-free...
  16. I'm just quickly adding that my husband's blood panel was positive, however the biopsy was negative. After much research and both of our sons having symptoms we decided to go gluten-free and see if it helped. It has greatly changed the mood in our home.
  17. My husband does not have the classic "gut" symptoms. His symptoms are fatigue related. His thyroid levels also fluctuate, ranging from extremely low to normal when he cycles on and off with the chronic fatigue symptoms. Since going gluten-free he is feeling much better and his energy level has soared. He has also had lifelong rashes on his thighs and...
  18. My boys were also normal birth weights. Ds1 was 7.5 lbs. and ds2 was 8lbs. (12 days early). By the time they were a year old they were both at 18lbs. Ds1 is 7 now weighing in at a whopping 38lbs. and ds2 is 2.5 years, weighs 25lbs. Ds1 did not start having intestinal problems until the past 6 months. Ds2's stomach issues are constipation related, however...
  19. I'm not very qualified to answer your question, but I can tell you my experience. My sons were both breastfed and once I started introducing solids their weight dropped. Ds1 is 7 now and ds2 is 2.5, they are both in the 5% for their age in weight and height. Since we have gone gluten-free on January 1, ds1 has gained 2 lbs. and grown an inch. That's a...
  20. Well, I'm happy to read this! My two year old son and husband have both been especially irritable during the past week, they've been gluten-free since January 1. I allowed my son to eat gluten over the weekend and it only made his tantrums worse. It's a relief to realize that the issues are relating back to gluten, which is what I suspected to begin with...
  21. I am band new to gluten-free cooking/baking. I was wondering if a dough enhancer would be gluten-free. It contains yeast, that appears to be the only thing questionable as I'm not sure if the yeast would be gluten-free. Also, if those of you who are experienced with making gluten-free breads are able to share your favorite recipes, I'd really appreciate...
