  1. Filititi, Did your rash go away once you stopped using your soap or did you have to take something? How long did it take to go away? I am feeling extremely helpless so any advice you could offer would be extremely appreciated. Thanks, Erica
  2. I would suggest using dove body wash instead. Oil of Olay won't guarantee that their products are gluten free and have even suggested trying them even if there is a trace of gluten, which I think is an extremely irresponsible response to an inquiry. Dove body wash is supposed to be gluten free and is very moisturizing.
  3. Their response is really upsetting. It absolutely is possible to have a reaction to gluten that isn't ingested. I recently used a new soap that had gluten without knowing and now my entire body is covered in a painful and itchy rash i can't seem to get rid of. I would suggest staying away from gluten in anything- it's just not worth the suffering it can cause...
  4. Hello, I have been gluten free for about 7 months and have never experienced dermatitis herpetiformis, not even before I found out I have celiac disease. This week, I broke out into an incredibly itchy rash all over my body. My arms, back, inner thighs and back of my thighs, and even my tush have little bumps all over and I can't stop scratching. I then...
  5. There are plenty of dairy free yummy cheeses out there. Go to your local health food store and try some. Also, try cheese made out of goats milk- they can be milder on the stomach and easier to tolerate. Good luck!
  6. Hello, does anyone have a good but easy breadmachine recipe. I have been buying mixes and none of them seem to come out too well or tasty. Thanks!
  7. Why don't you just suggest a restaurant where you can eat. There are several in NYC: Risotteria in the village indicates gluten free items on thei rmenu and even has gluten free desserts. Rd Bamboo in the village has a gluten free menu available if you ask. Josie's (there is one on the east side and one on the west side) isn't a gluten free resteraunt but...

    ARCHIVED Doctors In New York

If you live in Westchester, Fairway is a pretty quick and easy drive for you. I go to the one on 74th & Broadway since it is near my apartment. Upstairs is all health food and although there is no gluten free section, there are tons of gluten free options: cereal, pasta, frozen pizza, waffles, cookies, bread mizes, tons of flour options, etc... There...

    ARCHIVED Doctors In New York

Hi Irish! Thanks for the info but I'd rather not pay if I already pay for insurance every month. I found that Columbia University has a Celiac Disease Center. My mother-in-law, who is affiliated at Columbia, is going to ask one of her colleagues there to recommend someone in the city. I'll definitely keep you posted! I haven't gone to any support groups but...

    ARCHIVED Migraines?

Anyone else have migraines that stopped once you went gluten-free. Is Celiac related to migraines?
  11. Hello everyone. I know people often travel to NYC for vacations and I have found 2 restaurants with gluten-free menus/options. Risotteria 270 Bleecker St,

    ARCHIVED Doctors In New York

Hi irish. I live in NYC and haven't found one who specializes yet but I am still looking. Have you been tested- do you know if you definitely have celiac? My primary care Dr gave me the blood test. Just wanted to make sure you weren't waiting to get tested until you found a specialist b/c that's not necessary. Good luck!
  13. Are the Kozy Shack chocolate pudding snacks also gluten free?
