ARCHIVED Help With gluten-free Pizza Delivery In Louisville Ky
jsmjboertlein posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
We are taking our 5 yr old son with celiac disease to Louisville KY to the truck show next weekend. We'd like to have pizza delivered to our room. Does anyone know of a good place that delivers and offers gluten-free pizza? I saw one resturaunt called BJs or something like that but it got some bad reviews from other celiac disease sufferers who said the pizza... -
ARCHIVED Kindergarten Shots
jsmjboertlein replied to jsmjboertlein's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Well for the record I am all for shots. I think this whole fad of not getting kids vaccinated is gonna blow up, but if they aren't gluten free we have no choice. If my son eats an apple that touched a sandwhich he's hospitalized for a week puking blood, so you can only imagine what would happen to him of he got shots with it in em. -

Thanks everyone. It was the dang Trix. Sigh. He's still recovering and it was well over a week ago. He's bleeding under his skin right now on his legs and super angry which is usually toward the end of his cycle. I feel so bad -
ARCHIVED Kindergarten Shots

OK my son isn't attending public Kindergarten because his celiac disease is so severe, he wouldnt be safe. But today is registration day which reminded me that he needs his shots. This kid has been through hell the past few years with needles and IV's and one form of torture after another. I'm scared to get his shots. All of my friends with kids his age say... -

ARCHIVED Help! My Son Got Glutened.

From what I've read, Trix are gluten free but not processed in a dedicated facility. I know my son reacts to cross contamination, so I guess this is what did it. He's had them in the past, though, and I don't recall him getting sick from them. I hate when this happens. I feel so guilty. -
ARCHIVED Help! My Son Got Glutened.

My 5 year old's Celiac's is very severe. If he gets glutened we know because he has bleeding under his skin and he will vommit blood. So last night we went to a little kid's party. Parents were supposed to drop the kids and leave but I stayed because it's only his second party that I didn't throw since his dx and I wanted to be sure he ate safely. Well, he... -

Well, I can at least clear up the McDonald's thing. I worked at sevral different McD's over the course of 10 years. The fries are made in a dedicated vat. The only other thing cooked in there are hash browns, they are handled by a dedicated fry cook. They do not sometimes use them for other things and I will tell you why. Chicken and fish and fries all have... -

We just arrived home and I would say it went fairly well! There weren't nearly that many kids there and we had one close call. One of the dads handed my son a plate of reg. pizza, but my guy was aware enough to say no thanks that's not my kind. Then I grabbed a plate and gave him his pizza and later saw some of his buddies pizza on his plate. Thankfully... -

My son fell ill shortly after weaning from the breast. He almost died at age 3 by bleeding out from his nose and mouth massive quantities of blood. He's been through a barrage of testing through St. Jude and finally got a dx of celiac disease. He is so much better off gluten. He rarely has a bleed and if he does we can always track it back to some minor... -
ARCHIVED So What Exactly Is 'normal'?
jsmjboertlein replied to concernedmamma's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Cow milk tears up my 4 year old. He can, however, drink goat's milk. It's super creamy so we cut in in half with water and you can't tell the difference From that or cow's milk. It's pricey, but you can buy it at Wal-Mart. It's about $13.00 a gallon. -

My 4 year old hasn't grown in well over 2 years. Not an outfit size not a shoe size. He's almost 5 and still in 2t-3t clothes. I am excited to see if he grows. He's been on his diet for a month now and I have already had to buy new shoes, soooooo........ -
ARCHIVED Goldfish Crackers Almost Killed My Baby
jsmjboertlein posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That about sums up my life for the past few years. I finally found out about Celiac's from a reletive after my son almost bled to death last year. After seeing many specialists and finally getting him into St. Jude we figured out on our own that he has had Celiac's this whole time! I could not belive that wheat could have killed my little boy. Almost did...
