  1. Hi India Am bumping this up in case you missed it. Also I realised my mistake - UK is already allowing the 200 parts per million on products, hence codex wheat starch and malt etc being deemed OK. It is only the likes of the "free from" ranges that seem to be under 20 parts per million and even those do not provide details of what testing they carry...
  2. Hi India - & anyone else who is taking a long time to improve, Please don't despair, I know it's miserable to continually feel unwell but it does just take some of us longer to recover or get our diet right, and it is really important to stay positive. Thankfully I am now feeling good again. And amazingly, am starting to gain weight so hope that...
  3. Hi India, figuring out intolerances is difficult and I'm still only learning my way. But keeping a diary really helps - I write down all that I eat and drink, and all supplements or pills taken, plus all toiletries or skincare products used. That does make it easier to spot trends. And I have found that the longer I have been gluten-free the more severe my...
  4. I wouldn't like to say what would be best for you as we all react so differently but I have benefited enormously from l-glutamine, probiotics, vitamin B complex, calcium/magnesium/vitamin D combo, plus a separate zinc supplement as I tested very low for zinc. But whatever you choose to supplement with, make sure it really is free from gluten and your...
  5. Hi, I'm another New Years newbie, but out of necessity not as a resolution as such. I am now so much better but know I still have a long way to go, and a lot to learn. It probably took me until May before I successfully excluded all the hidden and sneaky sources of gluten (such as the wheat and barley extracts in the soy milk used at my local Starbucks in...
  6. Savonnerie shampoo and conditioner are both soy free (I think all Savonnerie products are). Have you tried any of the Desert Essences Organics range? I think they are probably soy free too. Good luck with either, I know how much damage the wrong products can do!

    ARCHIVED Hand Wash

What do those of you with DH use as handwash? I live in Dubai and am struggling to find gluten free options available here. I haven't been tested for DH but from all the info/pictures on this website am convinced that that is what I have on my hands (and elbows and face). Dermatologist has told me to use QV Wash but as I'm not sure that he knows much about...
  8. Thanks for the info. I only found out about iodine recently (from this website, not from my doctor!) and have been trying to avoid it. Since going gluten-free in Jan I have had to exclude firstly all dairy, then eggs, fish and soy so I guess my body has been trying to tell me something. I reckon some "hidden" gluten was still in my life up to last month...
  9. Was prescribed this today by dermatologist to use on my hands and elbows, but am really nervous about using a steroid cream. Would be grateful to hear from anyone who has tried using this. I think my skin is finally improving a little anyway, have basically been on gluten-free diet since Jan but reckon I was still having some "hidden" gluten until very...
  10. Not sure I can really answer your question but just want to say hi, as I am living in Dubai and understand how difficult it is to be sure of products here, plus we obviously don't have the choices that US consumers do. I have been trying to be gluten free since Jan, I thought I had read up so much about the rights and wrongs and that I was well aware of ...
  11. Would welcome advice on whether canned or dried beans are safest. I have emailed companies for info re: processing facilities but wonder if there is any great difference/risk between using canned and dried. I live in Dubai so have no access to mail order foods and all the beans sold here, both canned and dried, are made by companies who also produce gluten...
  12. As a super sensitive newbie I am trying to avoid all products made on shared lines, but non-celiac hubby is now going gluten free to make life/kitchen safer and easier for me so I am wondering whether it is OK for him to have such products or whether that will mess up my new gluten free kitchen. Think I am currently at the paranoid stage but am having trouble...
  13. Many thanks for all advice/suggestions, gives me lots to think about and try - feel much more positive for your cyber support. Am looking forward to moving to my new gluten free kitchen, think that will make a huge difference as our current kitchen is tiny and I only have one small workspace to prepare all foods. Hubby is being a total star about going gluten...
  14. Hi all, Firstly thanks to everyone on this website, you provide much better knowledge, information and support than my doctor does. I am a newbie to gluten free living and was doing pretty well but have developed secondary food intolerances and DH and am now struggling to cope. I started my gluten free life in Jan this year (was previously wheat and...
