I think we need to take a logical approach when it comes to things like this. Does flour or cornstarch really seem a logical dusting powder for sweetened gum? Take a bit of cornstarch and dust it on your tongue. Does it taste yummy? Not really. What's more logical to be dusted on these gums is powdered sugar, just like the sugar in the gum itself....
