  1. I'd say it depends where you go. I was a waiter at a restaurant which had a gluten free menu. All of us Servers were very trained and we were made very aware of cross contamination. I'd talk to the waiter and see if he/she is up to par. If not call the manager. If they have a gluten-free menu, they should be going out of their way to ensure proper handling...
  2. I know this post is old, but I actually used to work there. They do have a great gluten-free Menu and the owner actually sells his stuff at Uncle Guiseppes in Smithtown, well only the Tiramisu. They tried to cater to the gluten-free community. The head chef takes a lot of pride is his gluten free foods and the health of his patrons.
  3. Just wanted to drop a line to say that Uncle Guiseppe's in Smithtown is now carrying Russo's Gluten Free Gourmet Tiramisu. They were on hand this weekend giving out samples and everyone that tasted it (celiac and NON celiac) seemed to be impressed. They sold multiple cases of the product after the samples were given out.   5. What about a good frozen pizza? Any of those around...just pop in the oven and wah lah! Or even something like a stouffers lasagna, just pop in the tray and you have a complete meal??

  7. Im from Long Island and there are a few places that serve a gluten-free menu. I think outback has one too. My concern is the cross contamination. I personally don't have celiac or a GFI. My close friend does. My mother also works in a hospital and hears some patients complain about the lack of gluten-free choices in a hospital. They want muffins, bagels...
  8. So we are better off eating gluten-free food such as whole foods (not the market) like eggs, chicken, steak, Veggies etc? What about the comfort food though....somethign fast like microwavable? Or even cookies? lol
  9. Just want some advice/feed back on the biggest obstacle in coping with celiac disease? My guess is the eating/food. What about the food problem is the most prevelant? Taste,avalability,price?
  10. I have been looking into gluten free foods as my dear friend has been diagnosed. Some issues I see are a lack of "GOOD" food. There seems to be food out there but nothing very good. What issues do you folk face in your quest to control your diet? Price? Availability of food in a regular market where you shop for your family/non gluten-free? Taste/Quality...
