  1. Order some from Kinnickinick foods in Canada- they are pretty decent, bring one with you and eat the donut. No need to be feeling left out - it is something you'll have to get used to, or else be sick. I went through from about the age of 15 to last year with no diagnosis, and trust me, I'd have given all of those years of eating gluten to have my life...
  2. My dad has had similar issues, ever since he had his gallbladder out. He also has liver issues, stemming from too much iron in his blood. He hasn't found the reason either, but we suspect it might have something to do with diary- he won't go off of it though, instead defaulting for high doses of cholistid (sp?). The medication he uses is supposed to help...
  3. First - a colonoscopy is not going to give you a diagnosis - you need a small bowel biopsy which goes from the *other* end, so you probably won't find any diagnosis from this procedure at all. Second - Get another doctor, or see what other options are there... check out "rate my doctor" online - you might find a sympathetic one in your area. Third...
  4. This is one from Bette Hagman - Gluten-Free (gluten-free) Mix - from Bette Hagman's Gluten Free Gourmet 3 c. rice flour 1 c. potato starch (NOT potato flour) 1/2 c. tapioca starch Mix well. Or you can also try using the Red Mills gluten-free Mix - it isn't too bad either. And another from BH - as you can see I rely on her stuff quite a bit...
  5. My friend's mom used to make her own hand lotion - a calendula and olive oil combo - that was it. She swore by it to make sure her hands were nice and soft after digging in the garden. I use Burt's Bees on a regular basis too - I *hope* it is gluten free :-)!
  6. I've never been able to eat flax seed - I have a tough time with any small seeds period - so those from flax, nuts, even the small seeds on strawberries. I just stick with my Omega 3's from fish products, that seems to give me all of the 'good' cholesterol I need... well that with some B vitamins, a dose of D every once in a while, and that about does it...
  7. My niece is going through something similar right now. She was gluten-free for a few years, and recently has developed problems w/ no feeling in her hands and feet, no energy, etc. She is off work and they are investigating, she's done a million tests and nothing is coming back for her either. I've been lucky with my diagnosis and diet - I've gone gluten...
  8. If you are preggers and are very sensitive, it could be a cue from your baby - so I would stick to whatever diet you need to. When your baby is born, get her/him tested as soon as they start on solid foods for celiac, etc.. You'll know quickly if they can stomach milk products. But for you, it could be you have a mild intolerance to gluten that is helped...
