About Me

I'm the mom to three children who have Celiac Disease.

  1. Hey girl! Just saw this article posted here--- don't know how close this place is to you guys, but thought I'd pass it along anyways...

  2. My kids eat Envirokids cereals General Mills does say these are Gluten Free, and my kids are doing great eating them: * Rice Chex * Corn Chex * Trix * Kix * Dora the Explorer
  3. My three children have been gluten free for a few months now. This will be our first Holiday Season being Gluten Free. How did you all deal with this the first go round? I've posted before that I am a spousal caregiver and I make our only income in the house, it will just be myself, my three kids, and my husband, so i will have to make everything ...
  4. My two oldest don't have access to a microwave at school, and the bread has become too complicated, so here is what i've done lately: they have had to eat everything room temp or cold, best we can do for now. Gluten free hot dogs Gluten free lunch meat wrapped in corn tortilla tuna ground beef mixed with eggs (usually leftover from dinner the night...
  5. Guerrero and Enjoy Life Brown Rice don't have the CC problem. Mission Brand there are some doubts. I have to figure out the corn tortillas thing too because i can't roll them up for my kids lunches, corn tortillas cold break apart.
  6. What about if i need/want to use corn tortillas for my kids lunches, they break easily, but they cannot heat things up at school. What can i use for like pbj wraps or meat and cheese wraps? I know i can use a gluten-free pancake mix, but i would like to use tortillas too.
  7. Ken, I just signed up for this forum this morning. I posted in the Parents of Kids with Celiac, then this afternoon I googled celiac and food stamps, your post came up as one of the top listings. I am sorry you have to go through this, but I am in the same boat, although situations are different. My husband was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus...
  8. Hi There and Hugs, I am new here too, just posted this morning. My kids had confirmed diagnoses yesterday. So I have three children, who're 8,6, and my youngest will be 4 next week, and they have to be stripped of a lot of the cereals they love, the bread they've become so used to, and the pastas. What I am doing is printing out lists of what on...
  9. My three children's actual celiac test result was negative, but they did celiac anti bodies as well, and this is how it was diagnosed. Their Sedimentation Rate (SED) in some of the blood work is too high, meaning their is inflammation in their body, and there Alkaline Phosphate blood levels (ALKP) are too high, which means they test for problems in the...
  10. Learning this New Life for the kids

  11. Thank-you for you reply and help! My husband was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus and had no major problems growing up, but in 2005 became very ill and had to have brain surgery to fix his shunt that had broken, which meant the fluid building up around his brain (hydrocephalus)was not being drained down from his head into his abdomen because the...
  12. (((lilgreen))) Above hugs for you. I am new to this celiac and gluten free world, but just want to share my experience. My husband was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus and had no major problems growing up, but in 2005 became very ill and had to have brain surgery to fix his shunt that had broken, which meant the fluid building up around his...
  13. Hello to all. I'm Debbie, 27, and my three children were just conformed with the diagnoses of Celiac Disease. My son is in 3rd Grade, my Daughter in 1st, and my youngest daughter is about to turn 4 and go to pre school. I am going to have to do a lot for my two in public school because Gluten Free is not in their vocabulary. I am researching the disease...
