  1. I feel like I am in a similar situation but it started with my son vs. myself. After a visit with a naturopath I put him on a gluten free diet for neurological issues (poor coordination, weakness, daily headaches, fatigue, brain fog...) He responded beautifully and was doing things within a month that he was never able to do before! In search of more definitive...
  2. Hi! I had posted last week that my son who has alot of neuro symptoms and responded very well to a gluten free diet was tested for celiac. After a 5 week gluten challenge he tested negative for ttg-iga. Now I hear those with neuro symptoms show up in the AGA. Anyway, I want to request what tests I want done from the doctor. What all should I request? All...
  3. Thank you for sharing your story, Ravenwoodglass. I am so sorry for your long struggle. I guess there really are no clear cut answers sometimes. This reaffirms to me that I should follow my gut to do what's best for my children. Their GI also told me there is no way they could have celiac without the DQ2 or DQ8 genes which are the only ones they were tested...
  4. Thanks for your quick reply. If you don't mind me asking, did you actually get diagnosed via a biopsy or blood work without the genes, or via an elimination diet? I was planning on putting him as well as my daughter back on a gluten free diet after the scope (and the holidays - per his request ) but even at 11 years old, he knows now that he feels so much...
  5. Hi! I have been trying to figure out what is wrong with my son who has suffered from neuro problemsu all his life - poor balance, coordination and strength. Also started having frequent/daily headaches a couple years ago then migraines about once a week 1 year ago. After years of going to doctors with no answers I tried him on a gluten free diet this summer...
  6. Do you know the recommended time for a child to be on a gluten challenge that has been gluten free for 3 months?
  7. My husband insisted food has nothing to do with my kids symptoms. I still tried them on a gluten free diet and saw great results and elimination of almost all their symptoms (which are extremely varied among the 4 of them)! Once he saw the results he was a little more open to the idea but still skeptical - I don't think he thinks it could be as serious as...
  8. It's was 2 weeks yesterday that they have been gluten free. They both did have strep last week - my son was in bed for 3 days with it and had headache for a few days after. Going to GI doc in 3 weeks. Do you think 5 weeks is long enough to be back on gluten? The doctor's nurse said they prefer 6 but since we already had the appt to just keep it.
  9. I put two of my children on a gluten, dairy and egg-free diet after they showed IgG antibodies for those items via fingerstick at a Naturopath's office. My son, who had neurological symptoms showed remarkable improvement with significantly increased balance, coordination and strength along with cessation of his daily headaches. My daughter also showed improvement...
  10. I am new to this forum but can totally relate to what you are going through. I have 4 kids all with very different issues/symptoms. My 11-yr-old son has had neurologic issues since toddlerhood - problems with balance, coordination, low muscle tone but never any real digestive issues. Has seen neurologists, orthopedics, pediatricians...all with no answers...
  11. I know you said you're in the UK so I don't know what's available to you. My son suffered from about 2 years old with at first coordination and strength problems. Those have continued and he has always been a very "sluggish/foggy" kid. All these conditions worsened over time. Though we went to lots of different doctors, no doc ever diagnosed him. Finally...
  12. I don't know all the breads you've tried but I have 4 children who are all gluten free and all 4 of them really like the Food for Life Brown Rice Bread, even the 2 picky kids! (I can't use Udi's because 2 of them are also egg-free). I have toasted it and used it for sandwiches in their school lunches. I was afraid it would be hard or yucky by the time they...
  13. Thanks, ravenwoodglass, I don't think she was glutened - I have tried to make our entire kitchen gluten free since all my children showed to have antibodies - new toaster but not cutting boards, guess I should replace those too! I only bring gluten free food into the house now. I was just wondering if because she probably still had gluten in her system at...
  14. I'm new to the gluten free thing and was wondering if anyone has heard of this - I started my 8-year-old daughter on a gluten free diet 2 months ago because of positive IgG and IgA antibodies on a finger prick test done by a homeopath. She responded really well with much better behavior, less irritability, and fewer stomachaches and headaches. However,...
