ARCHIVED No More Diarrhea
Ally2005 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My GI recommended psyllium husk powder to help with my D and it worked almost immediately. Within 12 hours I had a normal (formed) bm for the first time in at least five years. I have been taking it for a week now and feel so much better. I take about1/2 tsp. 3x per day with meals. Ally -
ARCHIVED Any Ideas
Ally2005 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I have been gluten-free for 3.5 months and stilll have D. My GI thought I may be injesting gluten accidentally so he did a repeat ttg test. At diagnosis I had a level of 100+ and now they are at 37, pretty good I thought for 3 months gluten-free. Now I wonder if the 37 could be what is still causing my D or is it time to press the GI to look for something... -
I was just curious how often the Immodium users take it. I have to take it every couple of days (gluten-free for 3.5 months.

ARCHIVED Poop
Ally2005 replied to Eliza13's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
One thing I have noticed is that I am extremely sensitive to all kinds of foods. If I eat just plain fish, chicken certain types of fruit and veggies, almond butter, crackers, and gluten-free waffles. That's it! If I eat anything else..I pay. My stools are becoming more normal as long as I stick to this type of eating. I'm hoping in time I will be able to... -
I have had lots of D for 10 days now and I am guessing I had some gluten. In light of wanting to get the offending food out of your system, is it wise to take Imodium? Won't that keep it in your system for longer? I'm not sure what is happening in my GI as I thought I would start to improve by now, it's been 10 days! I want to take Imodium but am not sure...

I had mon in 2000 and the specialists determined that it was parvo B19 that caused it. Interesting, looking back it, this is the point that I remember my symptoms, whicgh I thought were from ibs, became severe and persistant. Ally

ARCHIVED Uh Oh- I've Been Glutened
Ally2005 replied to Eliza13's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I've been gluten-free for three months and I still have D for no obvious reason at times. My GI told me that the while healing your syptoms can go up and down. This doesn't necessarily mena you injected gluten. Ally -
ARCHIVED Malabsorption And Excessive Bowel Movements
Ally2005 replied to Eliza13's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was also wondering how your doctor came to the conclution that you also had IBS. How long did you go undiagnosed and how long have you been gluten-free? Do you have other symptoms other than D? ally -
ARCHIVED Malabsorption And Excessive Bowel Movements
Ally2005 replied to Eliza13's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi I can relate. I have been gluten-free for three months and just as I think my stymptoms have stablized (D), I am going to the washroom 4-6x per day. I have made one connection though, pns. For the last three months I have noticed that I get D just before and for the first few days of my period. I have also noticed that if I eat too much at one time that... -
ARCHIVED Malabsorption And Excessive Bowel Movements
Ally2005 replied to Eliza13's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi you sound exactly like I did at 10 days with the same concerns. On May 20, it will be three months since my diagnosis. I am finally experiencing steady progress. For the first two months my GI symptoms were up and down and are finally becoming more stable.I have found that eating fish, chicken fruit, vegetalbes, rice almong butter, rice crackers and a... -
ARCHIVED Diagnosed When?
Ally2005 replied to steadyed's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Ditto for me too in regards to not having an appetitle for bread, pasta ect. Hey Tammy, I live in Canada too, are there any wine coolers or ciders that we can have? I've been recently diagnosed and haven't looked into it yet. I'm not a big wine fan. Ally -

What is the bananna diet? Maybe I'll try it and see if my symptoms calm down! ally -
ARCHIVED Kiahrea
Ally2005 replied to Ally2005's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
That totally sucks!! You both must be very frustrated by now. Thank goodness he is starting to improve a bit. Will these neuro symptoms improve once the celiac disease is under control.? How do YOU cope with all this? Ally -
ARCHIVED Kiahrea
Ally2005 replied to Ally2005's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
It sounds like he was very ill. As I mentioned I also had stage three. I was working, running 50K (about 35 miles per week) and taking a night class. The only reason I went to the doctor was to ask if I could take immodium on a regualr basis to control the D I was having. I must admit that for six months prior to diagnosis I was feeling more mentally and... -

I was tested for infection and parasites at diagnosis as well. I'm not sure what the problem is! Today is a bad day...I'm imagining all kinds of things - refractatory celiac disease, cancer. I read earlier today that GI symptoms should settle in TWO WEEKS. As soon as I read stuff like that I feel soooo depressed and anxiuos. Ally -
ARCHIVED Support For Beginning Days Of Going Gf
Ally2005 replied to fritzicurls's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I can relate to what Tiffany said about being hypersensitive to what's going in our bodies. Shortly after learning about celiac disease two months ago, I noticed how sore/irritated by gut actually was. I am observant about everything that goies on with my body to the point that it has become obsessive. I am trying to get over this and hopefully as my GI... -
ARCHIVED Improvement
Ally2005 replied to cirrus16's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
In addition to what Kati said, there are four stages that reflect the amount of damage. Stage four indicates complete, total villi destruction. I had stage 3 B which meant partial to sub toal damage.. I was diagnosed two months ago. I am 42 and have had symptoms on and off for 10 years. Kati is right...healing is different for EVERYONE. You have to be... -
ARCHIVED Pepsi
Ally2005 replied to Ally2005's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks everyone for your replies. I never thought of the carbonation being the culprit! I guess I'll only have a glass of Pepsi when I really, really, want it! -
Hey everybody, I have been craving something from the pre-celiac days, (diagnosed two months ago) so I decided it wouldn't hurt to have a few glasses of Pepsi this week. I know it doesn't contain gluten but boy does it ever bother my stomoch. i don't remember it being bothersome before going gluten-free. Any ideas...I thought the gut would become less sensive...

ARCHIVED Symptoms That Go Away
Ally2005 replied to Lesliean's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Interesting, I had horizontal ridges in my nails that appeared 10 years ago and have not gone away until I went gluten-free two months ago. This is the only tangible thing I can say is different/better. Anyone else relate to this. -

I was tested for lactose intolerence around the same time as my biopsy and it came back fine. May I ask your age and the number of years you went undiagnosed. I am going for a bone scan in 6 weeks and I am worried I have osteoporosis.
