  1. ...and my doctor says it's not Celiac. He thinks my GI problems are caused by IBS. (Does IBS cause vomiting?) I was sure I was on the right track and was hoping Celiac would explain the odd neurological problems I've had for the past five years that my doctors have thought were MS, and which obviously aren't since the brain lesions I have are in the wrong...
  2. I had the blood test back in December, but my IgA was deficient, so they couldn't tell if it was Celiac from the test. I guess I'll wait and see what the biopsy says. Thanks.
  3. I had an upper endoscopy and biopsy today to check for Celiac, along with a sigmoidoscopy to check for any other causes of my recent GI problems. My doctor talked to me afterwards and said that he doesn't think it's Celiac, but he'd let me know when the biopsy results come back. He also said that he thinks I have IBS. While I hope it's NOT Celiac, I WAS...
  4. Sometimes I can eat gluten without seeing any immediate reaction to it. But I just had a bowl of cream of wheat, and now the skin on my my neck and arms is burning and itching. Does that sound typical with Celiac? (I haven't been diagnosed yet, so am having to still eat gluten. I go to the GI doctor on Wednesday.) Why can I sometimes eat gluten and not...
  5. Thanks for the info. I have had a recent thyroid panel, but it was normal. Also, I've walked with a limp (left leg, the one with the bad reflexes) since these symptoms started five years ago. It would be great to be able to walk normally again!
  6. Can Celiac disease or gluten intolerance cause absent reflexes or abnormal ones? Whenever I've seen my neurologist, she's not able to find my ankle reflexes and the last time I went back in October, my right knee reflexes were absent too. When all of my neurological symptoms started five years ago, I had an abnormal present Babinski reflex in my left...

    ARCHIVED Oatmeal?

Is oatmeal allowed on a gluten free diet? I thought it wasn't, but then saw the list of gluten-free products that Earth Fare sells, and they have oatmeal listed. (I love oatmeal! I love cream of wheat too, but that's obviously out of the question.)
  8. Ravenwoodglass, my doctor didn't check the IgG levels, just the IgA. There's a bad stomach virus going around this area, and I had almost convinced myself that perhaps my symptoms were just from that. I started having diarrhea (first) about every other day before Christmas, then the nausea hit. What's ironic is that I was eating whole wheat toast, trying...
  9. Okay, I picked up my blood test results from a few weeks ago. My doctor tested a couple of different things. One of them was a Celiac panel. On that test, my endomysial AB IGA was normal, the tissue transglutaminase IGA AB was normal, but the Immunogloblin A (IgA) serum was 41 on a normal scale of 66-433 mg/dL. there's a note written on the lab sheet that...
  10. I already have a GI doctor, but I don't like her very much. Can anyone recommend a good doctor in the Knoxville, TN area? Thanks!
  11. I haven't been diagnosed yet, and have an appointment for Feb. 1 to see my G.I. doctor because my PCP ran a blood test for Celiac and something in the test came back borderline deficient. I've had a lot of neurological symptoms for years (paresthesia, nerve pain, muscle and bone pain, ataxia, slurred speech, difficulty swallowing, tremors, simple partial...
  12. I don't have that one, but I have one called ShopWell. It's linked to the Shopwell.com web site where you can set up a profile and specify the types of foods you can and cannot eat (low fat, gluten free, low sugar, low salt, etc.) With the app, you can scan the bar codes of products with your iPhone camera, and it will tell you if that food fits in with your...
  13. I just found a cool website. It's called Shopwell.com. You can create a profile based on your nutritional needs and preferences, and then look up food items to see how they fit your profile. There's also a free iPhone app that goes along with it where you can scan a bar code and it tells you how that item rates for your needs, and if there's anything in it...
  14. I haven't started the diet yet, so I'm not sure since it normally occurs when you're healing if it's normal or not to be constantly feeling hungry. (I haven't been diagnosed yet either.)
  15. This has been going on for several months now. The range and volume of rumbles, squeaks, gurgles, and groans coming from my tummy is just astonishing! Right now, it sounds like a summer thunderstorm on a hot Florida afternoon!! And every time my stomach starts this symphony, I think of that song sung by Winnie the Pooh, "I'm so rumbly in my tummy!" The...
  16. Do any of you get a gnawing type pain after you eat, like you're still very hungry? I've been having this for several weeks now. I've lost 18 lbs. in the past few months, and I know with Celiac, you're not getting the nutrients you need, but do you still feel hungry even after eating a full meal? Also, I read something on here about a skin condition that...
  17. Hi, there is some sort of home spit test you can do to see if you have Candida. I did it a few months ago, and it showed positive results, but I never pursued it. You could probably find out how to do it by Googling it. Like you, I have the neurological symptoms, brain fog, never-ending yeast infection, etc. I also had one of the things on my Celiac test...
  18. For some reason, I can't seem to motivate myself to call and make an appointment with my GI doctor. My PCP wanted me to go after one of the elements on my Celiac test came back borderline deficient, and given my symptoms, I know I should, but I just can't seem to do it. I don't know if I'm afraid of finding out, or if I'm hoping that maybe all the problems...
  19. Hi, my name is Lisa, and my primary care physician recently tested me for Celiac disease based on symptoms I've been having for several months (or years, depending on if my other symptoms are related.) As a bit of background, for about the past four or five months, I've been losing weight without even trying to, in spite of eating a lot of fattening foods...
