About Me

My girlfriend and I have personally been gluten free since may 2010. What started as an act of solidarity for our patients that were struggling with food sensitivities became a life-changing experience. We both have a new clarity and health that we had never before experienced.

  1. Catarific, unfortunately you are not alone here... It sounds like you are doing very well listening to your body about what you can give it. Are you doing anything to work toward healing and repair in your GI?
  2. thank you so much, I really appreciate the insight. Ravenwoodglass, you mentioned leaving some reading materials. Do you all know of any ways that would help me bridge the gap and make it easier for them to take the first step?
  3. I keep seeing banana's come up a lot. Is it all fructose or mostly things like bananas? The reason I ask is that depending on your genetic heritage, the amylose that is a primary sugar in bananas can actually be pretty inflammatory for a lot of folks. A quick check is to see if you get a filmy or whitish tongue in the hours after you eat one. It's not...
  4. Lol your menu is wiiiiide open then
  5. Memphis! nice! I hope you guys have been having fun in the snow lately too Glad to see you back on the wagon, with RH it takes a little while to get your pancreas and insulin receptors in your cells to get back on the same page. Be patient. While getting back to gluten-free, if you really want to tackle the RH it will be very important for you to do a...
  6. I can see the frustration for sure! If more sensitivities keep popping up, and you are certain about your gluten exposure you might consider getting a little more testing to figure out WHY you're having these leaky gut type symptoms. Otherwise, you are just going to continue to be sensitive to whatever foods are leaking through. There are definitely doctors...
  7. This is great news for you! I obviously don't know everything about your case, but I would still be a little hesitant about some of your eating patterns though (especially with the symptoms after the burrito:) Like Georgie said, RH is usually associated with a constellation of other findings including AI. While eating a clean vegetable and protein based...
  8. I have done an elimination/provocation diet as a "first line" of testing and it has changed my whole world. I have two great friends that I think this kind of dietary test would be great for both of them to see how any food allergens may be affecting their health (both are hypothyroid). I need some help to understand maybe why they are apprehensive...
  9. That's great advice. Especially since it came on so quickly (after a trip to India) the is a good chance that it could have been triggered by a vector. An endoscopy or biopsy is looking for "villus atrophy" which can take a while to progress enough to show a positive test. Rather than wait until enough of your GI system is destroyed, you may find...
  10. This is an incredible resource! I have personally been gluten free for about 9 months and continue to feel better and better!

  11. I'm new to this site but this is a great story! The number of people that go undiagnosed in this country seems criminal. Going gluten free will go a long way to changing both of your lives. If you are still interested in having diagnostic testing run there are different tests that can be very effective. There is a stool antigen test that can give...
