Karl Otto's Achievements

  1. Not to say, I do not have friends, its to sat they live a long ways away. Most of them are sick with various sicknesses. I do help out my immediate family with the knowledge computer repair and accounting training from my college days. After service, I went to college a few hours a day, to use up that military free college money. But, at the same time, I was going to college sick as a dog. My fellow college student class mates would see me having to be excused every other from the classroom. They would ask questions of me and, turn up their noses at me for not having a job at the time. Once, they saw, I was not well, they shied away from me. Some thought I had aids, others thought, I had some kind of craziness or mintally ill, or wierd nervous condition. They all, started shunning me after that time. Every month, I would go to the VA Hospital and complain of various symptoms and sicknesses. Each time, no tests were give or lab tests. The US Government would had out more narcotics and send me on my way home. Thos meds almost made me died of heart attacks and sent me to the emergency room too many times. When neighbors and fellow students seen the meds they wouldn't even speak to me ever again.

No company would give me a job, stating I was too sick looking and un-healthy in their opinion. Longterm un-employment.

I lived on welfare, food stanps, and in rat, roach, infested appartment with two sons to support. No help from the US Government what-so-ever. People on the streets believed the Veterans Adminsitration over top of me labeled me plain crazy and nothing more. Later, 5 years back, the VA Hospital told me they had made a mistake in my diagnosis after all these years and, I confirned the civilian doctors report of Hyperinsulinism Hypoglycemia and Celiac Disease. THen, they claimed, I was born with these conditions so, they do not owe me nothing in way of compensation. It was all part of the US Government's long standing battle over compensation. All the guys whom, I served with at the same bases, have already gotten their compensation a long time ago. During this time, I have been discriminated against by close relatives, neighbors, and the US Government. I was a 10 year veteran with an honorable discharge. Just imagine what it would have been had I gotten a dishonorable discharge.

  2. You have good point and it just very well may work for some people but, again not all. We as human beings are a some of all our experiences in life and, our educational backgrounds.

See, I lived on the other end of the stick of life than you did. First I came from a dirt poor family. Church mice had more than we did. Second, my background is of that of whites and nativ americans. We held a mixture of Christianity and Native American beliefs which again set us appart from other people. Third, I have been at the receiving end of many cruel treatments by my fellow man since, I was a little child. Even when, I was in the US Military, I was on the receiving end of many cruel jokes and be shuned by my fellow soldiers. Since, I did not drink, chew tobacco, smoke, or use drugs. They did and beat or attempted to beat me when ever they could. Remember these are our fellow American Soldier whom could do no harm to others, right? People never gave me any after school jobs like other students. The employers would say, I looked to skinny and sickly to work for them. Parents had no money and I could not associated with the other guys back then, whom had parents that gave them money or had after school jobs. {Discrimination} Sometimes, I had memory problems or severe nausea, shaking and seizure ativities. People whom said they were your friends, started shying away from you when they noticed you had problems. Doctors lieing to use or not informing you of you disorders and names for your sicknesses. People calling you crazy all the time when you had symptoms that could not be explained. No one coming to your house to visit you when you were married. Neighbors that would talk to you only when they were forced to do so, not volunmteerly. I had the miss fortune of living in place where they neighbors did not like the same things I do. I was interested in computers, pc games, and watercolor and acrylic art works and drawing. I still cannot find any of my current neighbors that are interested in these things. So, we are the some of all our past experiences. I have the disabled label attached to me and the general public will not let me forget it, either. Just like the Jewish People in WWII, I have a yellow star attched to my lapel.

  3. I am glad you understand a little bit of what I go through on a daily basis. Think about it this way. What damage could be done to your body if you had Celiac Disease and Hyperinsulinism Hypoglycemia at the same time? Think what damage these disease could and would do to your body and mind if left untreated for 50 years?

Yes, this is a forum for Celiac Disease but, they do not make a forum with people whom have Celiac Disease and other diseases at the very same time. Do you know of any website that deal with multible conditions at the same time. Most health forums deal with just one disease at a time. If someone comes along and only has one disease or disorder fine, no problem. But, if someone comes along and has more than one disease they are just out of look. Right?

Do Celiac Disease people have to test their blood glucose levels at least 6 times a day? Do people whom suffer from Celiac have to watch their natural and refined sugar counts? Do the suffers from Celiac Disease have Neuropathy going on inside their bodies? I do not think so. But, at the same time, I cannot eat breads, pastas, and gravies nor, can I tolerate food processing chemical or, tolerate nuts and tree nuts. Doe this diqualify me from putting my comments out on this forum?

  4. My oldest son Eric whom is 37 yrs old, will eat just about any foods and groups of foods. He eat these ready made gluten free foods from a health food store near us. I have been sick and long time now, I cannot fix his meals and the rest as well. He works all the time and, does not have to the time to cook from scatch. His meals are well balanced with meats of all kinds, veggies, deserts, and drinks.

My youngest son is a very picky eater since, he has Autism and everyone know that Autistic Children seem to pick their own diets and, are very hard to changer their minds. {Stubborn people} He likes macaroni and cheese, gluten free little sausages, fruit yogart, gluten free oatmeal, chereols gluten free, organic milk as long as it is in his cereal. I cannot get him to eat his veggies no matter what I try. I have tried hiding them in his foods and gridding them up very thin but, he still finds them and picks them out and refuses to eat them. When he was a toddler we fed him veggie baby foods from a jar. After, eating them, he would spit them up or his stomach would puff way out for a few hours afterwards. So, for a while there we had to give him powdered vitamins in his food. Then, his body started rejecting them, too. So now, I give them to him only every so often but, not every day.

I personally can try and eat all natural foods from the supermarkets but, my sons so far are very weak in mind and spirit. They scream at me all the time and say they cannot tolerate no natural foods. Even though the doctors have diagnosed them with celiac disease, they still refuse to eat natual foods. I can and do have a natural diet worked out for me but, they will not eat anything without sugar, salt, and other spices in it. Whether it is natural sugars or refined, they do not care. Like most people in the beginning they do not give a dam. I do though.

  5. First off, I have a rebutal for you. According to my imediate relatives, I have had this condition all my life, ever since, I was baby. Since, we came from a dirt poor family and could go to the doctors. We had to deal with our illnesses and disease the best way we could. Back then, we did things by comon sense and trial and error method. That is what poor white and Native American People did to survive.

I was born with Hyperinsulinism Hypoglycemia and Celiac Disease as well. My mother was diagnosed before she died at the tender age of 82 years. To late for her, though.

I inherited the disease from her, plus she had a blood condition that doctors could not diagnose back then correctly. Now, days they call it Hyperinsulinism Hypoglycemia. Look it up on the web next time.

I must test my blood at least 6 times a day to check on my glucose levels and, still I get very low blood sugar counts that run down as low as 55 mg/dl at lease once a day or every other day. I have to weigh how much natural and refined sugars in eat piece of food I put into my mouth. I have to weigh how much vitamins and what kind of vitamins are in each foods I eat.

Celiac people have to watch out for gluten hidden in their foods at all times and, I understand this. Most people even with Celiac Disease have other health problems attached to their Celiac Disease. Very rarely does Celiac Disease and Hypoglycemia come along by themselves. Most of us have other health problem besides the Celiac Disease. Diabetes, Hypoglycemia, Food Allergies, Preservitives allergies, etc..... What your neighbor is able to tolerate with his Celiac Disease may not work for you at all. Keep that in mind. There is no one shoe fits-all here people.

Since, my three conditons have not been dealt with properly over these long years, I have other complications to deal with now that, you people do not know about or ever heard of. Please try and keep that in mind as well.

  6. So as we read off the same sheet of music look up these two conditions. Hypoglycemia diet and the Celiac Diet then, compare the two seperate diets. One says you can eat anything without gluten in it. The other one says, you must watch what you eat and to weigh how much sugar both natural and refined sugars in it. For people with Hypoglycemia, even natural foods contain sugars and some of these can be too sweet for the average Hypoglycemic Person. So, we either eliminate them or limit them in our diets. Celiac Disease people, can eat pretty much anything that does not have wheat gluten in it. I have notided that some of you eat diets that contain allot of natural sugars and refined sugars. Please, keep in mind that I have both illnesses going on inside my body at the very same time plus, I also got food allergies to deal with at the very same time. Just in case, you guys do not understand English, either. It must be tuff on you guys, living in and being in a foreigh country and, not grasping the American Language.

Cheese contains concentrated Caesin organic milk contains very small amount of it.

Protein Drinks, contain concentrated amounts of Whey. They also contain other emzyemes.

Most dairy products contain natural sugars and a concentrated amount of these means high sugar contents. This I must watch at all time. Foods containing too high of a glucose count are my enemy. Please keep that in mind. Others people with Celiac Disease also have full blown Diabetes as well.

Quote from doctor's medical handbook: Celiac Disease effect everyone differently. It also depends on whether there are other diseases and allergies that come along with the disease. You must keep in mind that most people but, not all do not just have Celiac Disease by itself. Is that so hard to believe?

This represent my rebutal in this matter..................

  7. To the last poster's comments. About 5 years ago, I was really bad when it come to sickness relief. I was having tons of smothering and choking spells after eating just any foods I liked. The doctors back then were still telling me a bunch of lies. For some reason other than money, they were constantly telling me I was perfectly healthy and it was all in my head. Think positive thoughts they would say. It never worked and I was getting worse with seizures, fainting spells, and severe nausea. I ended up in the emergency room several times in a roll. I prayed with my Bible in my hands. The dream came to me to check my US Government Medical Records in there the dream said was your answer. I ordered a copy of my medical records. It was not easy to get because, they fought me too and nail. There I found references to hypoglycemia test done on me. I also found test suggesting Celiac Disease. The dating of the test ran all the way back to the time leaving military service. This information was kept from me. During my emergency room visits, the doctor ask me how I was treating these condition and diabetes. I did not know I had these diseases and, they ask me why I did not know. I was always told and treated for anxiety and seizures, and having doctors say, its all in your head did not help.

I experimented with foods suggestion from the dietians and on my own. I had to find foods that would help maintain my blood sugar levels and make me feel better without the severe nausea. Celiac Disease people whom have only Celiac eat on kind of diet and, people whom have hypoglycemia have to eat an entirely different diet than those of the Celiac Disease people. This is why I come up with the diet, I currently eat every day. My glucose levels were very out of control. You must understand, I do not have just plain Celiac, I also have Hyperinsulinism as well. Born with both conditions. I hope you see where I am coming from.

  8. The closes I can discribe normal is as follows:

When, I was a child and young man growing up people treated me different. I did not know why, it always bothered me greatly, their in difference to me. All the people whom counted would laugh and tell me, I was ok, healthy and not worry about it.

The problem was, I was always getting nausea and sick allot, more so than the other children. I did not know why because, I did not have anyone around me smart enough to see the truth or point it out if they did know.

Normal children played baseball, football, and did other fun activities. I did not have that opertunity. I was alway thin and whisppy type of young man. One that spent most of his time being very under weight for my height. Sickly and having your mother go around saying you had bad and thin blood as an excuse for your sickness.

I was made fun of for my disabilities from a very young time in my life.

Normal people seem to be heatlhy, strong, and well ajusted people whom, get everything good out of life.

Disabled people must fight for every scrap of food, clothing, and services they get. Normal people do not.

Normal people go to the right schools, have normal dates, get married to healthy women or men. They pretty much ride off into the sunset and live life to the fullest. There willing and able to take what ever life throws at them and the weather any storm that comes their way. Disabled people do not have that luxury.

I could go on forever like this and many, many sample to compare the normal with the abbey normal people. Once I found out that out what I had and had been suffering from all my life, life started to make sense to me again. I now understand why the people treated me different from others in my past life. With age comes wisdom most of the time.

I personally am very sick with celiac Disease and Hyperinsulinism Hypoglycemia. But, my sons are still very young compared to me when, I was diagnosed. They can still eat things like that. For instance, Annie's cheese and macaroni comes in a packaged box. There is a package of cheese sause in the box. The box says clearly stamped on it gluten free. So, the food can still be packaged and, it can still be healthy to eat. It is made of rice flour and other safe ingredients. Some sausages you can buy at the supermarket are clearly marked gluten free on the package as well. Some yellow cake mixes sold at the grocery stores are also marked gluten free. There is too many articles out there that are gluten free and say so on the label. Why shouldn't people eat them?

  10. I have sure wanted to not work some times. Last year was pretty tough for me as far as brain fog and lack of sleep. I felt really bad about my job performance last year but there was nothing I could do about it. This year has been better after making some more changes to my diet. I guess I am saying I do indeed understand and agree that taking some time off makes a lot of sense. This can be a very hard condition to deal with in a lot of ways.

    Karl,

Sorry to hear about your lack of support from the VA. Just so you know, it is not unusual for doctors to miss celiac disease. They do it all the time. VA or regular doctors, they just don't get it. The average number of years to diagnosis I keep seeing is 9. That's 9 years before it is figured out. Heck, m sister figured out I had celiac from my symptoms, my doctors never did.

I hope your symptoms continue to improve on the gluten-free diet. It can take a while but it sometimes people have surprising recoveries too.

I was born with it and never realy knowed it. I was born way back in 1953, no doctor really knew it that far back in history. I was also born with Hyperinsulinism Hypoglycemia back then too. No doctor knew of it accept the research doctor back in the late 1950's. That is why I am in this hospital bed today. Litterly dieing.

  11. Sometimes, the companies do not put it down out of fear of not making a sale. I live near a health food and organic store. They have sells personnel come into their store telling them a certain food is gluten free verbally but, it is not written on the label. The company is just trying to make sells and not above using deceptive sales practises to do their job. Rule of thumb here, if it does not say gluten free on the label, I will not even look at it anymore. Then, I read the labels and find out what is in it. When, you have Celiac Disease it is with you for life. Be very careful what you put into your bodies. I am laying here in my hospital bed today because, I found out about my Celiac Disease and Hypoglycemia much too late in life. Yes, the hospital bed is in my personal home but, it is still a hospital bed all the same.

  12. Some on here complain or point out discrimination from others whom do not understand their disabilities. That happens all the time these days. For a matter of facts, it has been going on since I was a yong boy. I am now 57 years old and, I still feel the brunt of it even today.

People whom are normal in body and spirit cannot really understand people with disabilites. They may talk a good game and tell you they understand. In reality they do not understand and just want to be polite. Until they themselves wake up one day and find that they too are now disabled, they will not truly understand.

Being a disabled person is not the end of the world but, the beggining of a whole new world and, a new way of seeing that world. So, discrimantion will always be with us, normal people being the way they are.

As for me, I do not know or understand how it is to be normal. I have never been normal so, I do not know how that would feel like. Even my own children are not normal so, I have no experience in the matter.

  14. Eating nuts and tree nuts, do cause me to have a smothering and hard to breath situation. Up until, I was 30 years old, I was able to tolerate eating these things in small amounts ever so often. Then, about that time, things changed for me. I had several bad attacks 15 to 20 minutes after eating some shelled peanuts. So, I decided to experiment on this situation. Since, I was not able to work, I have experimented with foods of many kinds. I was looking for foods that I could eat and make a list of them. I experimented with different nuts. I found I was not able to eat any of them anymore.

Yes, I do spinkle extra virgin olive oil over my food with every meal, I eat. I have to eat 6 small meals every day all during the night and day time. That works out to 1 meal every 4 hours. Otherwise, my glucose will drop way below the 70 mg/dl mark on my scales or blood meter. Sometimes I go down to 55 mg/dl and that is a very dangerous situation to be in. I also suffer from Hyperinsulinism Hypoglycemia {Low Blood Sugar}. The doctor think it is because, the damage done to my small intestine from non-treatment of my two disease. Malabsorption.

  15. I use to be constipated all the time before, I went on the gluten free diet of mine. Since, that time, I have been going regularly ever since. I have not been in the state of being constipated for over 5 years now. Going regular will help you feel better and is better for you. Mostly it is the bread in the past that you ate the made you constipated before you found out you had Celiac Disease. Remember, the wheat, oats, barley, etc.... is what kept you sick all the time in the first place. After being on the Celiac Diet for the past 5 years, I still cannot eat anything with any kind of spices, yet. I still cannot tolerate nuts or tree nuts at this time. I still cannot eat anything with food processing chemicals and food preservitives, yet either. I too am wondering just how long it takes for your stomach and small intestine to go back to normal functioning. Then, again, it may depend on just how long you had this disease and how long you went without treatment before starting the gluten free diet.

  16. For years and months I lay on the living room floor in from of the television, nausea and sick as a dog. The VA Hospital Medical Personnel were telling me it was all in my head and to think positive thoughts. It would go away with positive thinking they told me over and over again. Well, it did not go away. I was given narcotic medications for Anxiety and Epilepsy. Asthma medications and every thing in between. This was to get rid of the Celiac Disease symptoms back then in the late 1980's and 1990's. The VA Hospital did everything they could to discourage me going to the civilian doctors about this diseases of mine. Then, 5 years ago, they finally admitted that it was Hyperinsulinism Hypoglycemia and Celiac Disease after I had a civilian hospital run the tests on me. They could have saved me allot of damage and worry if they would have given me the tests early but, they were worried about the compensation that I would have to be paid. The US Govenment litterly were trying to kill me with medications.

I feel better these days after being treated for Hypoglycemia and Celiac Disease than I have felt in years. I am still under weight but, I feel so much better. I still have to test my glucose every 4 hours during the day and night but, I still feel better. I go into hypoglycemic state once a day every day though at present time. Glucose drops down to 55 mg/dl sometimes and at other times it only drops down to 60 - 70 mg/dl.

  17. I would love to eat cheese but, the it has caesein in it and, it also has Whey in it. I try a protein drink in the beginning about 5 years ago and ended up in the hospital emergency room. The doctor looked at the drink and, told me it was the Whey and other enzymes my body could not take. So, protein drinks were out of the picture. My current food diet, I had never heard of before, I started on it. Everything was making me sick and nausea. Egg Whites boiled did not agree with me after eating them for 2 - 3 weeks. I to stop those. I was getting hungrier by the day. Then, I did the un-speakable. I prey and held my Bible to my chest and went to sleep that night my current diet was told to me in a dream. It worked out rather good for me. Lots of vitamins, B Complex, zinc, iron, Potassium, etc.... At first I only two in 2 oz of milk per meal after months went by I took more milk in. You see, most people make the mistake and drank the milk with hormones, steriods, and other chemicals in it. Well, I found purely organic milk, non-fat. It has absolutely no chemicals in it. In the beginning of this diet, I lost allot of weight, I went down to 119 pounds at one point. When you are 5 feet 11 inch talk that made me look like a skeleton. But, slowly the weight has come back up to 128 pounds. I have a little more meat on my bones and a little bit of muscle again. My sagging skin has tightened up and looking smooth again. My key was finding out what veggies and can or cannot eat. Experiment with food, do not be afraid. Once you have a list of things that bother you, stop eating them. My bland diet may not work on other but, it works on me.

Root veggies are off my list, cannot tolerate them. Absolutely cannot tolerate food processing chemicals of any kind. At age 30 year old became allergic to all nuts and tree nuts. Too bad, I use to love them.

  18. My youngest son Ishmael had been having symptoms for a long time now. He had been seen at the Children's hospital in Denver for many visits. His old doctor recommended he get the following test done. Insulin Levels A1C Test, Metabolic Profile Test, Celiac Disease Panel Test, and yes a gene test as well. Based on his weight size and symptoms both the older doctor and his current doctor diagnosed him with Celiac Disease in addition to his Autism, Mild Retardation. I to have the disease and was diagnosed with it. The doctor feel he and his brothers have inherited it from me. So, the Celiac Disease Panel test has allot to do with the diagnoses of the disease.

  19. If your oldest son didn't have Celiac disease I'd say don't try to help a drug addict taht doesn't want help. BUT he has been Celiac for a long time right? Symptomatic? Maybe self medicating with drugs to feel better from the Celiac malnutrition. Don't give up on him yet. He needs time to accept the diagnosis too. You were searching for a diagnosis so you were open to it. As with all difficult losses there is a grieving process with anger denial bargaining and eventually acceptance. This is a process and his brain is fogged by drugs or alcohol. I'm not saying he should have his way at all. If he lives and eats in your home he will have to eat gluten free. You are living with two mentally impaired individuals who may be that way because of gluten. Keep trying.

Even with autism there is an innate sense of self preservation. Austistic kids are very sensitive to change. Just keep offering good healthy gluten free options that resemble his favorite foods. Eventually he will eat. Consult his Dr. as to whether the weight loss is in a danger zone and get help monitoring his weight.

Gluten acts like an opiate and there is a withdrawal symptoms for some people when they stop gluten.

Thanks for all your answers to my bigest problems.

Eric 37 year old obeys my orders and his doctor's diagnoses and he eat gluten free foods. He never complains about it above what is normally said about it. He does not use drugs or alcohol or drugs. Good son to me lives in my house with me. Never married.

Bnjamin 33 years old lives in California with mother. Abuses alcohol and drugs even today. He does not accept diagnosis of Celiac Disease. Refuses to admit he is sick at all. Will not eat gluten free foods and calls the rest of us here in Colorado stupid for believing the blood tests and lab reports.

Ishmael 15 years old youngest son has Autism, Mute, and mild retardation born with these condition. Now, newly diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Finding it very hard to eat gluten free foods and gives me a hard time in convincing him, he must eat this way for the rest of his life. He lives with me here in Colorado with Eric.

karl Otto 57 years old self. I have been sick with thiness, no muscle tone, low body weight and high body weight off and on since birth. No one knew what my disabilities were in until the last 10 year or so. Celiac Disease & Hyperinsulinism have bothered me all my life. Doctor never started treating me until 6 years ago. Allot of damage to my body. Yet, the US Army let me go into the military. During Vietnam War Ear Times.

This way you cann all get your cards straight and know a little about my family and how we are trying to deal with this Celiac Disese situation going on.

  20. I have noticed the gluten free food from the stores is looking beter and better prepared. The last three weeks foods that I choice for my two remaining sons looks and smells very good after heating it up. So, I once again decide to tak a taste of it. The foods are gluten free but, the still contain spices, nuts, or chemicals. Well, after tasting some of them, I gave myself a severe case of nausea. It seems as if my poor stomach and guts still do not want me to put any spices, oils, or chemicals down them yet. I can esily tolerate Olive Oil. But, the rest of my foods, I personally eat are bland in nature. Iodine salt is the only seasoning I use on my food at current time. That and Olive oil, extra virgin. My body still want let me have any spices or chemicals or nuts or tree nuts of any kind, why?

My current diet that I eat is as follows:

Organic Brown Rice with husk still on it, boiled until done.

Organic Brown Lentils, boiled in plain water until done.

Fresh Green Peas, boiled in plain water until done

Organic, free range chicken, no hormons, no steroids, or processing chemicals.

    Straw berries, blackberries, blueberries

4 ozs of Organic Milk with every meal.

I eat small meal 6 times a day. Same foods over and over again.

I have been eating this diet for 5 years now and still my stomach cannot tolerate spices, nuts or tree nuts and processinng chemcials, why?

I have already bought everything in the house, food wise, gluten free. There lies the problem. I have been giving him gluten free food for two weeks now. My 15 year old has full blown Autism in addition to having Celiac Disease. He cannot speak, he's speachless, born that way. He takes a bite or two of his food when, I prepare it but no more. Then he shoves it away from his face. When, I change is clothing he looks like he is loosing weight fast now. I took into account the foods he likes to eat and substituted then with Gluten-Free foods. He acts like he knows immediately that these are not his normal foods and rejects them. For instance, he like macaroni and cheese with little sauages on top. The gluten-free version is made of rice flour and the sause is equally gluten free. Even the sausages are gluten free. His breakfast cereals are all gluten free, too.

His brother whom is 33 years old does not support himself, he is a lazy bum, take drugs or abuses alcohol. His mother had him tested and, he will not accept the lab tests or the doctor's diagnoses. My sons got their Celiac Disease through me according to the doctors at the Denver Children's hospital and the VA Hospital Doctors. At one time all my sons lived with me, in my house. Now, only my oldest and my youngest live with me now. My oldest is 37 years old and he says he wants to live and, he is willing to eat whatever it takes to live longer. He does not drink, chew, or smoke. He doesn't even drink coffee, either like me. I do not does those things either. Just how, can I get the youngest one to eat his food? I really am trying daily to come up with foods that they both like. I am beginning to think it is all pyscological with them two. Thanks for the advice....

  22. In the past I was originally diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and hypoglycemia. Since, then the doctors and lab test have revieled Celiac Disease with Hyperinsulinism, instead. My three sons were tested and found to have Celiac Disease through lab blood test. The doctor said these days they look for genetic markers in the blood and among other things and can be very acreate in their findings.

I am attempting to cope with the disease as is my oldest son Eric. We eat what the diatition perscribes for us. The other two sons want obey nothing of the kind. They are trying to kill themselves by not eating nothing or the totally wrong foods. My 33 year old son says he would rather die than eat gluten free food the rest of his life. So, he is on a hunger strike and is going back to regular food and says he does not care if it kills him or not.

My youngest son, has full blown Autism and Celiac Disease and he is now refusing to eat gluten-free food as well ans his older brother. I personally do not like hanging around people whom have death wises. For years I went through hell with my diseases before their discovery in my body. These days, I feel better than in the past. Because, in the past, the doctor did not have blood test to prove Celiac Disease, my body has been damaged. I now, lay in my hospital bed at home and, try taking care of my disease the best, I can. How can, I convince my 33 year old son and my 15 year old son to eat right and take care of themselves? Not taking care of the Celiac Diseas can lead to a whole host of nasty disease and conditions that lead to death.

How many hear have other medical condition in addition to Celiac Disease? I was recently diagnosed with Hyperinsulinism Hypoglycemia in addition to the Celiac Disease. I have known all my life to have this condition but, was never really able to prove it until now. My older family member knew, I had some medical problems since birth but, they never really had a name for it. I was never abled to tolerate wheat gluten but, my mother made me eat it anyways back in the days since we were as poor as church mice. I also had a problem with hypoglycemia all my life right straight through the US Army and afterwards as well. I would loose weight and gain weight practically over night and some years I would be a thin and boney as a rail other years, I would be very over-weight. The last 10 years I have been very under-weight and stayed that way. I have had papitations as well as light heart attacks, and sudden heart attacks. All this was due to my diet and low blood sugar situation. My current doctors diagnosed me with Hyperinsulinism Hypoglycemia and Celiac Disease as well. I am now on a bland diet and it seems to be helping out allot but, it may be too late for me to live much longer according to the doctors. I am so glad that my children have been diagnosed and found out their condtion while they still have time to get everything under control in their lives, instead of having to wait so long as I had to do.
