  1. I was tested through York Labs. Highly reactive for wheat, milk, eggs and tomatoes. Since pizza was one of my worst (and favorite) meals, it seemed to make sense, and yes, I did feel significantly better when I eliminated these foods. My first doctor said these tests were unscientific, but the MD I'm seeing now says he can't argue with the improvement...
  2. Is Cream of Rice cereal gluten free? I had transferred it to a jar for storage, so didn't have the label to read. I was soooo sleepy this afternoon (one of my gluten symptoms) and that was the only thing I had eaten. Also, I just checked the Malt-o-meal website and they are now listing Coco Dyno-bites as containing wheat. The Fruity Dyno-bites still seem...
  3. I read that some of the cheaper balsamic vinegars contain caramel coloring which might be a problem, so I'd check the labels carefully. The good stuff ($$$$) should be OK.
  4. The GFSoap folks have 3 kinds of bar soap, one liquid soap, one shampoo and a conditioner, and a lotion -- all gluten-free. I think some folks also use Garnier fructis (available at the local grocery and drug stores).
  5. I've been using products from the Gluten-Free Savonnerie (www.gfsoap.com). They're gluten, casein, soy, nut, fragrance, and colorant -free, but make wonderful lather. The owners of the company are very responsive to requests and can ship you a travel pack (sample sizes) if you want to try it before buying bigger sizes. It is a little expensive, but it...
  6. Several years before I figured out that I was sensitive to wheat, I noticed that my hair was thinning (dramatically). I could pick up handfulls of hair after I shampooed. I tried multiple shampoos, no improvement. Then I started using just a bath soap (which I have since found is gluten-free) to wash my hair, and the problem quickly resolved. Now I'm...
  7. Thanks so much for all the great suggestions! Here I was feeling sorry for myself about how limited my diet had become, and the real problem was just a lack of imagination. It's wonderful to be able to learn from the voices of experience. Thanks again.

    ARCHIVED Migraines

I also had migraines but the key for me was eliminating dairy. Once I did that, the headaches were gone, too.
  9. I'm still new to this and am really struggling with breakfast. The thought of eating left-overs isn't really appealling, but I'm also dairy and yeast sensitive, so cereals, breads, etc, are out. Also, I leave the house at 5:30 AM, so I need something FAST. So far, I'm OK with celery and peanut butter or rice, but does anybody have other suggestions?

I'm using gluten free soap, bu can somebody give me some brands for gluten free toothpaste and detergent? I don't have DH rash but I do get itching intermittently. Thanks for your help. I've already learned so much from this site.

I'm also new to the gluten-free lifestyle. Tested positive at Enterolab although all the bloodwork done by my doctor was normal. I've tried to follow a gluten-free/DF diet for the last 10 days. My mind feels clearer but my body feels like a limp dishrag and I had constant, localized abdominal pain. I went out of town over the weekend and ate gluten -...
