A lot of people on this board have said that just putting something with gluten on it on their skin can affect them with skin problems. I have not had that, but I'm refering to ingesting, like putting lotion on and then eating peanuts or shampooing in the shower and having some of it get in your mouth.

I shop at a large local grocery store chain (Fred Meyer, for those of you who know it) and they have a wheat free section.
