  1. Any quick tips for an American who must eat gluten-free and have no garlic? I will traveling with my husband in Tokyo and Kyoto the end of the week for a week. I have some translated questions ready, but if anyone has been there recently and can recommend some places or ideas or quick tips, it would be most appreciated. Would just like to be able to get...
  2. I can't thank you enough for these repsonses. I'm truly grateful for everything everyone has shared and I appreciate your time and your willingness to share your knowledge and experiences with me more than you know. I'm on a work deadline but am going to print these responses and go through everything, think about every comment and move forward from there...
  3. I am a sensitive celiac (diagnosed over a year ago after suffering from what I was told was IBS I just had to live with since I was 15 years old) who is vegan (20+ years) and also can
  4. Thanks very much for these two new ideas. I agree the most important thing is to heal and move forward. Will keep trying, exploring and learning. Excellent advice, as always. You guys are so smart and helpful--thanks so much!!!!
  5. Thanks so much for the replies. I have tried both pea protein and hemp protein (both is small quantities to start, etc.--never "over did it") and have similar reaction as to soy--not as bad as gluten and corn, but still a day of suffering with D, gas, cramping, nausau, etc. until it moves through. I can do limited amounts of hulled hemp seeds and chia seeds...
  6. This was so helpful to me. Almost a month later I have been able to completely avoided gluten and corn. I have tried so hard after learning from this site how bad it is to relapse/cheat. I feel much, much better but am still struggling to get enought protein from sources that don't upset me. Having been vegan for 20 years, I really do not want to eat...
  7. Has anyone tried to reintroduce nuts and if so, what was your reaction and how quickly. I tried to reintroduce with a few each of pistachios and almonds--today feel all gassy, bloated and rumbling intstines...is this common?
  8. I can relate. It can be so hard to find good products that fit our needs. I found a "protein" bar called NuGo Free Dark Chocolate--it's gluten, soy and dairy free--they actually taste pretty good--decent chocolate flavor especially if you are otherwise limited and have a decent protein profile (I am vegan and have difficulty getting enough each day) they...
  9. News Flash! Wanted to make sure you knew this--when I went to check this bar out on (Company Name Removed - They Spammed This Forum and are Banned) (I have to avoid 8 Main Allergens, not just wheat and soy)--I saw this and wated to let you know: "Safety Information May contain traces of peanuts / tree nuts/soy bean/milk"
  10. Thanks so much for these replies. Very helpful and based on this will continue to avoid. Thanks for helping me deal with craving that could have had bad consequences and keep me motivated towards healthier way of life! Will look for this Lindt bar, to be sure. Thanks Again!
  11. Do those of you with soy intolerance also have a problem with "soy lecithin" in all cases? This ingredient seems to be in all chocolate except for Enjoy Life Bars and just curious of any of you who are normally sesitive to soy can tolerate this "soy lechithin" in small quantities? Thanks for any insight you might have.
  12. Hi! I found a WONDERFUL company--Gerbs Pumpkin Seeds--they also do sunflower seeds--all are done on a clean line--free of 8 main allergens. I haven't been able to find a company that does this and believe me I'd love to--all seem to be processed on a line that also processes peanuts or at least "other tree nuts" and I'm highly allergic so I get sick if...
  13. Thanks so much, to you both! Very interesting and helpful. I'm rushing around now but will follow up next week with any questions/concerns. Thanks Again for your time and help! Have a wonderful holiday weekend!
  14. Does anyone know, in general how many grams of protein a typical (average height and weight) healthy forty year old woman who works out (free weights and cardio)would need each day? Realize this is something to see a nutritionist about, etc., but am just wondering ballpark figure-wise what the standard/average amount would be...Thanks for any information...
  15. Thanks so much. I will certainly look into this further, especially if you say that it has made these things easier to digest for people. Has it worked for you personally and did you notice a big difference? Is this the same thing as if you buy "sprouted pumpkin seeds" or "sprouted sunflower seeds" at say a Whole Foods? Those seemed so expensive I never...
