  1. Would you request a biopsy at this point? Do we need to up her gluten for that? I agree with you that she will learn to cope if she has Celiac. She is 9 so this is about the worst thing she can imagine. Thanks so much for the response!
  2. Hello! I've been following the board forever, but haven't posted in years. This community has been so helpful navigating Celiac since my youngest was diagnosed in 2011. So, I don't get too wordy, I'll post my question first followed by our history in case that is helpful. My oldest child (9) just got the results from her celiac panel: tTg...
  3. Your little one sounds so much like mine! Harper was diagnosed with failure to thrive at 6 months, but we ignored it since my other daughter (and I) are so small and she had been crawling so much. At 12 months, I knew something was wrong. She had only gained 1 lb in 6 months, nursed 12+ times a day, pooped mucousy undigested food 5 or 6 times a day, and...
  4. My husband is an orthodontist, and he checked ingredients on the glue and molds they use after our youngest was diagnosed.. Nothing had gluten. I'd ask again, explaining it like a peanut allergy as mentioned above, but I think you'll be fine!
  5. I had a similar experience last month. A relative had brought us muffins and gluten-free muffins and I gave our daughter the wrong one. She had no reaction for a day and a half. Then, we had four solid days of GI issues. I know it was the only gluten she had consumed. celiac disease is so odd.
  6. One more thing... There are major pluses to being diagnosed so young. Harper was a new kid after a week or so on the diet. She went from a crying, constantly unhappy kid to the happiest spunkiest little thing ever. Plus, they'll have no memory of gluten foods.
  7. I just wanted to say hello. Our daughter was diagnosed at the same age. We decided not to do the biopsy since we have a strong family history of celiac, and I was uncomfortable putting her under for the procedure. Since you are totally unfamiliar with the diet, I would ask for your GI to refer you to a nutritionalist. The web and your GI should be able...
  8. Have you had your thyroid tested? Everything you listed sounds very similar to my symptoms of hypothyroidism.
  9. Thanks so much for sharing what y'all are doing. We went totally gluten free at first, and are still gluten free for my older daughter since she is a messy eater, and I have become terrified of crumbs. My husband and I were only eating gluten in restaurants, and we were bringing food for Harper that was gluten free and cut up so we wouldn't cross contaminate...
  10. I am definitely not eating enough then. I'm still kind of hoping my symptoms are temporary from the diet change, and I don't have it. Better to know for sure, though.
  11. I'm new to the board and wanted to say hi. My daughter was diagnosed after her one year checkup. She had text book digestive symptoms and failure to thrive. We are four months into our journey, and I am so thankful for the diagnosis. She is a different child now: happy and thriving! My question is is your whole house gluten free? Harper just started...
  12. Hi! I am new to this site, but very excited to find it. My daughter was diagnosed with celiac's four months ago. She had just turned one and we were still nursing, so I also went gluten free for the first three months. I didn't notice any change; but, since reintroducing gluten, I've been having explosive tummy troubles. My daughter's GI recommended...
