  1. Hi - My son was newly diagnosed only through a very high positive on the blood work, but not a biopsy. Anyway, someone recently gave me the website for the University of Chicago Celiac Disease Center and hotline. I found reading their material very helpful and hope to talk to them soon. It is celiacdisease.net. I am quickly finding that my Dr's office...
  2. My son was diagnosed with Celiac per a blood test about a month ago and has been gluten free ever since. When he accidentally gets contaminated he feels awful. My husband and I and our other son have been planning to get tested per everything I have read since. My husband had a physical today in the same practice where our son was diagnosed and asked...
  3. Thanks. I am certainly not inclined to do reintroduce anything, I just thought I saw a reference to possible adverse effects of stopping very suddenly. We'll just keep moving forward at this point.
  4. Thanks so much for the withdrawl resources. I feel much better. I'm wondering if there are ways to support him while he's going through it and should I give him bits of gluten here and there to make it easier? He is having a really hard time with his emotions. Poor guy. At least I know I don't need to find someone to do an exorcism now.
  5. I went and bought Bob's Red Mill gluten-free steel cut oats for my son who was recently diagnosed (and loves oatmeal). He gobbled it down and asked for more, but as I went to get the second bowl he started having a stomach ache. I think I will try one more time to see if it was a gluten response or that he ate too fast. Hoping for the 2nd, but I fear he...
  6. Thanks - it is certainly strange from my usually mild mannered child to hear him screaming that he hates me and that I'm an idiot. He has never done this before. Glad to hear it will come to an end eventually. Geez.
  7. I'm wondering if there is such a thing as gluten withdrawl. My 8 year old was diagnosed about a month ago and he's been gluten free ever since. He had a huge (and still does) love affair with pasta and bread and all carbs. Weird how we love the things that are harming us. Anyway, ever since he's been very moody in a way I've never seen. When he's mad...
  8. Hi - I joined this group last week and posted a message asking lots of questions because I'm new to the Celiac world and my 8 year old was just diagnosed. I understood that the first couple of posts would have to go through the moderators, which is no problem, but then my post never posted. How might I find out where it went? Thanks
  9. Hi - This is my first post. After my 8 year old son spent a good part of the summer complaining of belly aches and tiredness and just not being himself, we took him to the Dr. where they ordered blood work for food sensitivities, Celiac, and some other things. His results were very high for Celiac and we immediately started him on a gluten free diet. He...
