  1. The people at Whole Foods also told me the 365 Shampoo and body lotion are gluten free (although also not labeled), and Jason makes some gluten free toothpaste which is labeled. They also said Burt's Bee's shampoos, but I just threw some out that actually said "wheat protein" in the ingredients, so if they are gluten free now, it is new. Thanks
  2. I'm just wondering if someone might share which body products you have found that are gluten free. I'm wondering about shampoos, tooth paste, lotion, lip balm etc.... Along with that, I'm wondering what some of the more common ingredients are that indicate gluten. A lot of times when I read the labels I don't see anything that would be gluten, but they...
  3. I get mine at Whole Foods so if they don't carry it, just ask and they should be willing to get it.
  4. where in Virginia are you? I'm in Charlottesville and they don't carry it in our Kroger, unfortunately.
  5. I put it in a plastic bag and left it out overnight the first night and made sandwiches with it the next day. Then put it in the fridge. It is still good right now on day 2 in fridge. Better than most things.
  6. Yep - it turned out really good. Thanks for the recipe.
  7. I have a quick question for anyone who might be on here right now... would it be bad if I left and let this rise for a couple of hours? I'm not a big bread maker, so I don't really know, but do know I have to leave and won't be back for that long. Thanks
  8. Yay - can't wait to make it. I guess I do have a question to the poster of the recipe - have you ever added anything to make it more healthy, such as flax meal or almond meal or anything like that? And if so, how would you sub things in? Sometimes I get so excited when I find a bread that even remotely works, but then I realize there isn't much nutrition...
  9. Depending on where you live, Amazon has this product for 6.74 a box and is eligible for free shipping. I just paid 8.99 and was thinking the same thing about it not being cheaper to make it. That was my original goal, was to make eating gluten free bread cheaper.
  10. Can't wait to try it. I just got on here to ask this very question about a good bread recipe and there it is. I am heading to the store today to find King Arthur and his court. Thanks and I'll let you know how it goes. Just one question for now... I don't have a good stand up mixer (but I can borrow one), but in the meantime do you have any other suggestions...
  11. OK, I realize hot dogs are basically junk food, but here's my question... I don't see anything in the ingredients that indicates they would have gluten. But if they don't have gluten, then why are there "gluten free" hot dogs that cost a bazillion dollars? We don't eat them very often, but my little guy does like them, and I don't necessarily want to buy...
  12. Thanks - do you mind sharing some of the companies you have found that work for you?
  13. Just surprised as I thought they were a better brand. Did you contact them to find out about their methods? (BRM that is) Just curious.
  14. Yes Roda - he has not a good response to gluten free steel cut oats from Bob's Red Mill. Do you not trust any of their products as far as all the gluten free flours and everything? I have a pantry full of this stuff now. I also use Gluten Free Pantry, and Namaste, and have just tried Bisquick for their pancakes. Mostly Udi's bread. Any other suggestions...
  15. I'm wondering if anyone has done the genetic testing at home and if you had a chance to compare prices and have any wisdom on which ones are best and cheapest. Are you able to use any insurance if you order this for home use? Also, if your Dr. ordered the genetic test for you, I'm wondering if it was covered then, and how much. Mainly because I'll leave...
  16. I just posted a question on this in the parents category of this forum - my son is also still experiencing stomach aches 2 months after getting off gluten. Is there a period of healing where it would make sense for the stomach to still hurt? It sounds like in your cases, this hasn't been the case. I worry for him and want him to feel better after making...
  17. Hi - My 8 year old has only been gluten free for about 2 months - since we discovered he had Celiac. We have been very careful that he only eat gluten free, and are slowly catching on to all the cross contaminant situations (although I figure out new ones every day). His teacher has a wheat allergy and is gluten free as well, but she is new to keeping a...
  18. Thanks for your reply. I know so little that I thought just those letters would tell someone who knew the tests what they were. The first IgA is Deamidated Gliadin Abs, IgA. The second is the same beginning name but with IgG. Yes our primary told us he was obviously Celiac (1st son) and he has been gluten free since mid July, but we just got the second...
  19. My 8 year old recently had a celiac panel of tests done and I'm really not sure what any of them mean - my Dr's office doesn't really know either and I have an appt with a pediatric gastroenterologist coming up. (I don't know that he is a true celiac expert though). I do realize his results were very high in some categories though. My second son then had...
  20. Did you order the genetic test and do it on your own? I am thinking I want us all tested for the gene as well, but don't know the best way to go about it? thanks
  21. If you post something and then want to know if there has been an answer, is there some way to see that without going all the way back into the forum to see? I ask because sometimes I don't remember exactly which category I posted in. Also, there is that little box next to my name on the top that always says "0" and you have no notifications. I would think...
  22. My son eats them and likes them, but for some reason the honey ones made his belly hurt a little bit. I had him try them again and the same thing happened. Other ones have been fine though.
  23. Hi - I was just looking at the Gluten Free Mall on this site, and was thinking about getting Shiloh Farms gluten free Almond flour. As I read more about the product it said it was packaged with equipment that handles wheat. Doesn't this make it not really gluten free then? I have been avoiding all things packaged or processed where wheat is also processed...
  24. Wow - My husband has been having these pains for the past 10 years. We called 911 the first time because it acted exactly like a heart attack. He then had them very rarely for a long time, but lately they have been coming closer together. It is right up near his sternum but he feels it really badly in his back as well. The Dr. recently called it GERD....
