  2. Most problems with supplements, especially fat soluable ones like vitamin E are caused by overuse. People think, if a little is good, more is better. If you take the recommended dosage, FDA approved things are generally safe.

  4. When you're nursing you should still be taking your pre-natal vitamins. The usual dosage for low D depends on how low you are. If you are in the 'under 30' range they will usually prescribe 50,000U a week for 4 weeks then once a month. 3000 a day is not that high, you can safely take up to 4000 a day.
