About Me

Originally from Canada, now living in the UK working as a commercial artist (so not making money :P) and loving life! Learning the hard way that gluten is not my friend after many years of suffering bladder infections, stomach problems, IBS, blood infections, rashes etc and feeling like a hypochondriac to boot. glad to find a forum of like minded folk..(or like-digestive folk?)

  1. Hi guys I recently went home to Canada for Xmas to spend some quality time with my family. I wasn't as careful as i should be,even though my sister also has celiacs; i ate a pizza that had a gluten-free crust but possibly not the toppings, in desperation (my friend was sleeping and wouldn't wake up, and as we were at his house and he had no food other...
  2. Thanks for that! Top tip, I just so happened to have a big bag of sage tea from turkey in my cupboard. I've had 2 cups today thus far and my tummy feels more soothed already! Also when healing does exercise get really tough? I cycle to work and back everyday and recently it's become very hard. Annoying!!! Thanks again!
  3. Hi guys, wondering if anyone could offer any advice or insight? Basically I've been eating gluten free now for a couple weeks, I went to Italy and had a gluten binge 2 weeks ago but was gluten-free before that. I wanted to reintroduce to see if I was indeed intolerant(which I'm now sure I am) anyway before I went to Italy I felt fantastic but since I've...
  4. It looks just like 'normal' bread, it's a bit drier but not at all solid and hard like so many gluten free breads are. when it toasts it almost tastes exactly like normal bread, but you can easily eat it untoasted as well. It's got a slightly starchiness to it but the best thing about it is they got the texture and feel bang on! i hate how gluten free bread...
  5. Hello all! I live the uk and it's very good for eating out! Try otto pizza in Notting hill, they do the BEST gluten free cornmeal crust pizza! They say they can't guarantee it's gluten free so they call it "free from gluten" but I've never had a problem! Also Carluccios is a chain of Italian restaurants that offers a huge gluten free menu, they are everywhere...
  6. Oh good:) I really don't want to eat it again! Thanks
  7. Hi guys, I'm finally getting my blood test for celiacs tomorrow however I've not eaten gluten for a week and a half, should I postpone this test and eat some gluten or will antibodies still be present in my blood? I desperately would like to avoid gluten as regardless to whether I have celiacs or not I know how it makes me feel:(
  8. I did and the stupid doctors can't find the result!!! So he's reordered it but it seems to be taking far too long. I feel like he's not really taking it very seriously, but my previous dr recommended I stop eating wheat... Her son had celiacs so she was very supportive and helpful... I miss her! Anyway I cut out gluten now and feel so much better! Ate some...
  9. Ya I'm pretty sure it's celiacs. My sister has recently been diagnosed, my mum has ulcerative colitis, osteoporosis, and anemia, I'm anaemic and the docs are always saying I have ibs....so at the very least I feel like I have some form of gluten intolerance... Ugh to all your nasty infections, sure doesn't sound like fun
  10. Hi guys I was wondering if anyone has ever suffered an infection of the blood and if this is something that can occur with gluten intolorence/celiac's? This summer I got a tiny cut, the kind that you wouldn't even notice and less then 12 hours later is developed into a full on blood infection with a red track line running from my thumb past my elbow...
  11. Ugh...thanks for that. I really did have a good time but the pain sure ain't worth it. I consider that my final hurrah! to gluten. The only thing i'm worried about is if i have to do a blood test, it mean's i will have to eat some gluten right?...I would really rather not...
  12. interesting! I, too, have always had elevated white blood cells and the doctor seemed to not be able to explain it. I also have high serrum globbin, is this at all related? thanks
  13. Hi there, I've just recently tried to elminate gluten from my diet. My sister has just been diagnosed as having celiac's disease and though i haven't been diagnosed myself yet i have many of the symptoms. My doctor years ago advised me to cut out gluten after being diagnosed as having IBS. Also as a child i inexplicably didn't develop enamel on my back...
