  1. Lol, I already feel like I am starving but I'll ask anyway...what foods should eliminate if I want to reduce iodine?
  2. As a show of support I have gone gluten free with my 15 year old daughter. It has been one week and I feel terrible, queasy, shakey, tired, grouchy etc. and she is the one with celiac. Honestly if my daughter said she felt this bad I would have thought she was exaggerating so I am glad I am doing this. I know she isn't feeling great and I am worried she won...
  3. Go figure - my pyschiatrist thinks it's DH based on things he has seen in the last year but not the dermatologist?! I have gone gluten free because my daughter has been diagnosed by endo/colonoscopy biopsy so we will see what happens.
  4. I can figure out the plain Greek yogurt but the flavored look like "Greek" to me today, 1 week into this and I am about to have a tantrum! Anyone have a quick list of Greek yogurt, brands and flavors that are gluten free?
  5. Thank you for the info. My daughter's pediatrician actually started the ball rolling right off the bat. On her first visit complaint of belly pain etc. He ordered the correct blood tests and stool samples, once they got those results she was sent directly to a children's gi. Endo/colonoscopy were done and she was diagnosed with celiac and ibd. She is 15 and...
  6. I also have had very elevated lipase (pancreatic enzyme) levels that they have nevered explained, vision issues and involuntary movement. The more I remember the more nervous I get.
  7. I have a sneaking suspicion that the horrible rash I have had since July that the doctor thought was shingles is not shingles but DH. What type of Dr should I go to for a biopsy? Dermatologist? I have already had blood tests and they are negative. My 15 yr old daughter was diagnosed by biopsy with celiac and ibd and just last night I had a horrible aha moment...
  8. Thx - I figured as much!
  9. My daughter has been diagnosed with celiac (and ibd). I (her mom) had the bloodwork done and it came back negative. Unfortunately it looks like I have DH despite the blood tests. My question is can celiac run in families in different forms? Like me and my daughter or perhaps sisters where one has celiac and the other celiac in the form of DH?
  10. Thank you very much, we just got her diagnosis last Tuesday and we are all feeling overwhelmed. She was not only diagnosed with celiac but with IBD as well so there is alot going on. They have stressed the need to be gluten free so they can sort out the IBD. To top it off I told her I would go gluten free as well.
  11. My daughter's doctor and nutritionist said to be careful with make-up/products that go near the mouth and the eyes. I just tried to read the contacts lens solution bottle and it lists "proprietary formulas." How the heck can I tell if there is gluten in it if they don't list the ingredients? Does anyone know of any safe contact lens solution? Thx
  12. We have some experience with Hartford's Chilldren's Medical Ctr with their Cardiology Dept and have been very pleased. Now we venture into the land of GI, my 15 yr old daughter just diagnosed with celiac and ibd. Anybody have and ifnfo on the Hospital or Dr Jeffrey Hyams (he is the head of the dept)?
  13. OMG my head is spinning! My 15 yr old daughter was just diagnosed via endo/coloscopy with celiac and ibd, I would gladly take her place in a heartbeat. The good news is we are meeting with her GI tomorrow. The bad news is that here home life is not simple. Lives with her dad, sister, step-mom (who she doesn't like) & step-brother who has asperger's (though...
  14. We have been working through the diagnostic process since August. Bloodwork pointed towards Celiac and the multiple stool tests pointed towards IBD. Took her in last Friday for endo/coloscopy and walked away not feeling too bad. Upper looked okay and just a little inflamation in the bowels. Dr said it was possible remnants of a virsus with false positives...
  15. What do the different colored conversation bubbles to the left of the topic indicate?
