*charliesmum* replied to *charliesmum*'s topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thank you for your message weluvgators, very helpful I have taken Charlie to the doctors this morning for reassurance as his stools are still far from solid She said it sounds a bit too much of a coincidence for it to not be the noodles that have caused his tummy troubles but we are to take in a stool sample just to check for bugs! Charlie has made it... -

ARCHIVED Feeling Angry!

The school itself is briliant. He has all gluten free dinners there and has had no problems (school lunches are free for all infant children so the scholl must cater to dietry requirements). The base is a separate run after school club but she assured me that other children attend that follow a gluten free diet and they could cater for his needs. I understand... -
Hi I haven't posted for a while as since me and my son have been diagnosed and on a gluten free diet for almost 3 years now we have been virtually problem free! However, my son started school last month and all had been fine until he needed to go to The Base which is the wrap around care at school. My partner picked him and up and received a phone call soon...

Thanks to you both for getting back to me I have just had bloods done which included U&E's, LFT's, FBC, Folate, Ferritin, Iron, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D, Calcium, Magnesium and t-TGAb. I have been prescribed Iron and Folic acid supplements but all other were ok. Still waiting on the t-TGAb which I should receive at my dietician appointment. I am from... -
Both me and my son were diagnosed with coeliac disease about 18 months ago now and have been on the diet for as long. I have suffered from achey joints for a while but it has become more noticeable recently. Sometimes my elbows, wrists, knuckles and every joint in my fingers come over with a dull achey feeling which can sometimes be quite painful. Does anyone...

*charliesmum* posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My son was diagnosed with coeliac disease about a year ago, I also have it and found out around the same time. I noticed he was drinking a lot, always asking for drinks, waking in the night thirsty and was uncontrollable if refused a drink. Took him to the doctors yesterday and have now found glucose in his urine so looking like he has diabetes too. Does... -

ARCHIVED When To Get Babies Tested?
*charliesmum* posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Im probably a bit ahead of myself here but with my little boy being coeliac (only got the results yesterday!) and having to get my 4year old tested next, if I did decide i wanted more children when would they need to be tested? Would they have to consume gluten for a period of time beforehand? Im just not clear on it. With my son, he wasnt growing properly... -

ARCHIVED Got My Little Boys Results Today...
*charliesmum* replied to *charliesmum*'s topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Thank you for your replies He is only 2. I have only just been food shopping today BEFORE I was told the results so most of the things i got for snacks have gluten in eg crisps and biscuits. I will have to see if the yogurts I got are gluten free, he loves yogurt but I think petit filous have gluten in do they? I dont know what to give him for breakfast... -

Well, after waiting 6weeks and having to follow it up I finally got my little boys results today and it has been confirmed he has moderate to severe coeliac disease...I knew it would be positive BUT still a blow actually hearing it and it becoming reality! ARCHIVED Booked In For Endoscopy! Argh!
*charliesmum* replied to *charliesmum*'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My bloods were unclear. I dont even really understand them tbh. I scored 20 where the normal is between 0-15 and then the 2nd one said negative. I was told that if the 2nd one had been positive then the 1st would have been more reliable. I had to have further investigation as my dad is comfirmed coeliac and my son (2yrs old) has positive blood work and waiting... -

ARCHIVED Booked In For Endoscopy! Argh!
*charliesmum* replied to *charliesmum*'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I am in the UK. You can drive home if you have it done without sedation. I also have 2 young children so cant really be falling asleep or feeling drowsy after I get out plus I want to be in and out as fast as possible. They give a numbing spray so im hoping thats enough. I dont think I will be overly anxious about it. I just keep thinking well it has to be... -

So...Charlie (my 2yr old) is at hospital tomorrow for his pre-op assessment before his biopsy on 4th Jan. Eager to get it all over with. Does anyone know...will he have to go on gluten free diet before we get the results or wait for them 1st? I had blood tests done over 3 weeks ago. Rang for results today and theres a note with them saying make an appointment...

*charliesmum* replied to *charliesmum*'s topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Thank you From the UK btw, seems a lot of people on here are from US. Sooooo many things seem to have gluten in its hard to know whats what lol. Think once the biopsy is done (on my son) we will get transfered to dietician so hopefully they will help. Theres just going to be so many hurdles eg children's parties, eating out etc. Will just have... -

My 2year old is going through testing for coelic but doesnt eat much meat and I myself am hoping to get tested (my dad is coeliac too) but I only really eat chicken and turkey. Is quorn or other meat substitute gluten free? I have no idea about what we will/wont be able to eat apart from the obvious ones like bread, cakes, biscuits, pasta. If quorn isnt gluten... -

*charliesmum* replied to *charliesmum*'s topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for your reply So if my bloods came back suggestive would I still need the bioposy with both my dad and my son already having it? It would seem obvious to me that I would have it too
