  1. mylittle3, I didn't get a printout of the results but the tsh was something like 0.012 ... something ridiculously low. I don't have free t3 and free t4 normal ranges memorized so I cant recall what she said- but she told me that they were wrong and that I may still need to reduce. But that we would wait awhile, since it's only been about a month since...
  2. djs, go get some potatoes, rice, beans, your favorite vegetables, meats, and eggs. Stop eating gluten. If your symptoms go away, it was gluten. If they don't, it's something else and you at least gave it a try. there's no benefit that I know of to getting a formal diagnosis. In fact, getting diagnosed properly requires that you continue to eat the very...
  3. Totally agree with this. Just take your cooking down to a basic level and don't use anything that you aren't 100 percent sure about. Pretend it's your first day and question EVERYTHING. If you suspect soy, just avoid it altogether too. You can always test it later, once you have your feet on the ground again.
  4. If you really want a diagnosis, then by all means go eat some sandwiches and hotdogs! Have a doughnut and a pancake for me too - I really miss those the most! But look, a diagnosis won't do a cotton picking thing for you. All it will do is PROVE that you have to live gluten free in order to have your health back. But guess what? You can do that without...
  5. I've decided to do a test for a week. No synthroid or cytomel for one week, let's see if I can at least get rid of the dizziness so that I can function. If I have clear symptoms of low thyroid, I'll maybe take half what the precription calls for and go from there. But I really think I may be able to stop this dizziness so I've got to give it a try.
  6. "In the past, celiac disease may have been misdiagnosed as irritable bowel syndrome, or anxiety and depression." This is partially true. In the past, but yeah, most doctors are still living in the past. It took a great deal of insistence to force my docs to test me and they found nothing. However since going gluten free, my symptoms have improved. That is...
  7. There are times that doctors are helpful and there are times that they only add to a patients frustration. Celiacs is STARTING to become a known problem but most doctors don't give any creedence to it at all. But there are so many things you can do for yourself without a doctor's advice. Obviously you suspect gluten. So go thorough all your cabinets and...
  8. I tried to upload an avatar but this system is too limited on size and I can't get a pic small enough.

  9. Hey Newbee, It would help to get your tsh, t3 and t4 checked. I think my numbers are off because after being on the gluten free diet, my body has stopped attacking my thyroid! I'm guessing that as my body heals I'll need less and less of the thyroid meds BUT in the meantime, I have an awful case of vertigo. It's so bad that I can't really function. I'm so...
  10. One more thing - by getting a diagnosis, the only thing that means is that you need to eat gluten free. There's no help, no medicine, no perk of any kind to having the official diagnosis. And chances are it's going to come back negative anyway - mine did. My advice for what it's worth is don't bother with the testing because that requires that you continue...
  11. My first suspicion is there's something you are eating that has gluten in it. Did you check the mayo ingredients, or does it say gluten free on the bottle somewhere? Don't trust ANYTHING not even potato chips. There are some potato chips with gluten. You have to read every single ingredient in your refrigerator and cabinet. Salad is setting you off? What...
  12. thanks eat4meat, it's helpful to have a little encouragement! I was also hoping there were others on here who had seen thyroid improvement while on a gluten free diet, to see what they did to compensate
  13. If you start cutting out foods that you think are making you ill, don't be surprised if the docs cannot diagnose you properly. The endoscopy and colonoscopy will only find celiacs if you've been eating gluten so is your goal to get better, or to prove your condition? If your answer is you want to get better, then my suggestion is to stop eating all gluten...
