  1. I've felt alot of what you're talking about. Hubby has nerve damage from back surgery so he's in cronic pain without his meds. His heart rate shot up a few weeks ago so he's been on a heart monitor, had stress tests, been to the ER, etc. His heart is okay...thank God...the doctor thinks his heart problem is from a new med he's taking for nerve pain. And...
  2. My daughter's been gluten-free for 4 months now. I've been handling it pretty well. But yesterday, I was just overwhelmed by the money I'm spending on groceries and how my daughter is always asking, "Mom, what can I eat?" *sigh* So, in the middle of Whole Foods...I just started crying. I feel like a bad Mom right now. I don't feel like I'm...
  3. YUM! That looks so good. I'm going to try it out today.
  4. Heather, I'm new around here and have just started my diagnosed daughter (she's 11) on the gluten-free diet, but I still wanted to offer my encouragment and support to you. Keep pressing the doctors. You are your daughter's only advocate. The thing that is so awful about celiac disease is that most people don't get diagnosed until AFTER a lot of...
  5. My daughter and 2 sons are having friends over after school today and I'm going to serve tacos. It's so nice to cook something they all can eat together. Mysti
  6. Girl, I am right there with you. My 11 year old daughter just started her gluten-free lifestyle after her positive biopsy last week. She does well at home but has eaten stuff with gluten the past 2 days at school. *sigh* At home, I cleaned out a cabinet and drawer for her. Then I went to several stores and bought about $200.00 worth of safe food...
  7. (((Hugs))) I'll be thinking about you and your boys today. Especially your little 5 year old. I have a 5 year old son and he's getting tested soon. Mysti
  8. I saw some gluten-free recipes online last night for paper mache and clay. I decided that the best thing for my daughter to do (in Art class) is to wear latex gloves while working with gluten products. She's 11 years old. Just Google on "gluten free paper mache". You'll find a lot of recipes. Mysti
  9. Thank you all so much for the wonderful information. I've got so many ideas now that I don't feel quite so overwhelmed. Today, I'm going shopping for some gluten-free food. FINALLY, there will be a nice selection of safe food for my daughter to eat. Blessings! Mysti
  10. I'm having such a hard time. My daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease in June. We have YET to get her completely gluten-free. We're going to a doctor on Wednesday and I hope he can help. I just feel so overwhelmed right now. Do I completely change our kitchen to gluten-free? Should we all go gluten-free, not just my daughter? She gets so...
  11. My blood test will be in the morning. I'm glad I'm finally getting this done. Mysti
  12. Thanks for the tips. I didn't know I needed to still be eating gluten for the test. I've been gluten-free for 3 or 4 days. I'm getting tested tomorrow...should I eat something with gluten today? Did any of you change your whole family over to gluten-free eating to make things simpler?
  13. My daughter was diagnosed with celiac disease one week ago. My doctor wants to test me also since I have so many of the symptoms. I decided to just read up on celiac disease and lactose intolerance because that seems to be the most common things that bother us. Today is the 1st day that I haven't had a stomach ache in a very long time. My...
