  1. Yes, I am gluten free now...I sure wish I had known! How did your recovery go?
  2. Well I had a follow up appointment and I told him I had felt better on the antibiotic. I'll give it a day or two and then contact him again I guess. Thanks for your help!
  3. Rifaxim for 10 days. I have thought about asking him to treat it again, although he has never done the breath test for it. Diagnosed based on symptoms.
  4. I guess? I had a colonoscopy in addition to the upper endoscopy. Had a ct scan...normal. Have been treated for small intestine bacterial overgrowth. He's calling it ibs but idk.
  5. He did say I could just stop it...I don't know if it was because I was on a low dose? 25 mg. Thanks for chatting w me about this. :-)
  6. I'm afraid all the time that the docs have mised somehing. I am two and a half mos. gluten free and not sure how much I have improved. I feel like the docs just assume that I am or will improve...same for others around me. This thing is a real beast...
  7. The brand you mentioned - digest gold. I just ate a plain chicken breast, peas, and homemade gluten free brownies. I had been taking pamelor but stopped because I was getting dry mouth. I don't know if withdrawal from that can cause D. I am also on my period (sorry if this is tmi) which usually upsets my stomach, but today has been pretty excessive. Feeling...
  8. I tried the digestive enzymes last night for the first time with dinner...had terrible diarrhea this morning. Is that normal when starting on them?
  9. Is anyone else dq2 homozygous? I am and am a bit skittish because I guess it means the disease can be more difficult to manage?
  10. I'm so very sorry! I was diagnosed two months ago, right after the death of a family member, and it is a lot to go through all at once. I don't know that I have any good advice, as I am still trying to figure all this stuff out too, but I do hope things settle down for you.
  11. I had held off on getting the enzymes b/c I was waiting the results of a fecal fat test...I figured he may write a prescription anyhow. The results still aren't in, so I guess I will go ahead and get them since the lab results are taking forever!
  12. Is there somewhere that shows that cooking pasta releases gluten molecules? Just for my own information/sanity? My husband does not cook gluten free and I am stressing about this possibility. Thanks!
  13. Yes, I have been doing a lot of rice. I took the suggestion about eliminating something, and I eliminated corn. It seemed to help for a few days, but now the pain is back. This is going to make me totally batty!!!
  14. I meant double DQ2! DQ2 homozygous
  15. I am taking a probiotic, Culturelle, although it only has one strain of bacteria so I am not sure if it is the best. I looked for digestive enzymes at the grocery store yesterday and didn't see any. Maybe I was looking in the wrong place. I see people talk about L-glutamine, too...does it work?
  16. I am double DQ as well...Gemini, how long did it take you to heal?
  17. Thank you everyone for taking the time to respond...very helpful and greatly appreciated!
  18. Meggielynn, you don't get the mucous anymore?
  19. For awhile I was eating just chicken and rice...I will probably have start something similar to that again. Thank you :-)
  20. How do you test for intolerances?
  21. Thank you, that is what I needed to hear. I have been so anxious about all of this. It seems as though everyone has this amazing quick fix after going gluten free and while I have had some improvement, I am still very stressed. My first gi doctor scared the life out of me about celiac potentially being lymphoma and I've never really recovered from that.
  22. I haven't. I asked my gi doc but I guess I have to go to an allergist? That doesn't seem right to me, but maybe it is?
  23. I am gluten and dairy free and still passing mucus in stools and still have stomach pain...doc thinks I have ibs in addition to celiac. Does anyone else still have these problems at two months?
