ARCHIVED Letter To Other Parents In Classroom?
scstampin posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My 3 year old daughter dx in May will be starting preschool next week. Her teacher has been really great, and she wants to send a letter home to all the other parents about Celiac disease. Parents will be very involved in the classroom, and help out during parties, field trips and everyday things. We want them to be aware as well of the precautions they need... -
ARCHIVED Starting Preschool...what Precautions Do We Need To Take?
scstampin posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My daughter was diagnosed in May, and will be starting preschool in September. She has a twin brother, who will be in the same class. He does not have celiac (as far as we know right now...blood test was neg, but we aren't convinced). Anyway, I was very overwhelmed at first, but now feel like we have found a new normal at home. BUT adding preschool into... -

ARCHIVED Can You Help Me With My Gene Test Results?
scstampin replied to scstampin's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Kudos to all of you that "get" the gene stuff and have done the research! I have read and read and read about it over the last few weeks but it is SO confusing to me! So THANK YOU for all your help! I have been back on gluten fully for about a week and a half, maybe 2 weeks. If I haven't eating much gluten during the day, I will eat a few pieces of... -
ARCHIVED Can You Help Me With My Gene Test Results?

Beachbirdie, thanks for your response! So is it the DQ alpha or DQ beta that looks like it is DQ7? Still trying to figure out the other gene. No CLUE how this stuff works! Very interesting articles. Now that my daughter has been diagnosed, I am very curious to know what her genes are...if she has DQ2 or 8 or not.. we may get her tested just to know. ... -

Also, what genes does this mean I have? I see people posting I am DQ2 and DQ8 or whatever they are. I can't tell why my 2 genes are from these results. Can someone help? Thanks! -

Also wanted to add... I do think I will go gluten free with my daughter anyway after exhausting my options with testing, but I would like to try to get a diagnosis if I DO have Celiac disease, because I feel that if I don't have that, I won't a basis to ask for other testing. I broke both of my femurs in a car accident 12 years ago, and my bones took years... -
ARCHIVED Can You Help Me With My Gene Test Results?
scstampin replied to scstampin's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I did have other tests done, kind of in backwards order though! We have since realized that the Medifast weighloss program I was doing at the beginning of this year has alot of certified gluten free foods, so I was pretty much gluten free for 10-12 weeks without really realizing it or thinking gluten had anything to do with my health issues.(and I thought... -
ARCHIVED Can You Help Me With My Gene Test Results?
scstampin posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My GI ordered the gene test for Celiac, and I requested a copy, but I have no idea how to read it, can anyone help? DQ Alpha 1 01,05 DQ Beta 1 03,5:01 Then it says under Interpretation: see comments. But there are no comments. It just says gene pairs not present. My 3 yr old daughter was diagnosed with celiac through blood and biopsy. And I have... -
Hi, I am wondering if anyone has ever seen Dr. Kinney in Minnesota? He is who I am seeing, and I am wondering if he is very educated about celiac disease. I was having a biopsy done for other reasons, and I asked them to biopsy for Celiac as well. The nurse said fine, but that celiac disease wouldn't cause my abdominal pain I am having anyway. They took...

ARCHIVED Where To Go From Here?
scstampin posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I need some opinions on what to do in the situation I am in, and also wondering how common it is to get a false negative on a biopsy and blood test? A little background info... I will try to keep it as brief as I can. I had my gallbladder out last december, after 4 years of uncomfortable pain in my upper middle abdomen. After having my gallbladder out... -
ARCHIVED 2 Year Old With Speech Delays
scstampin replied to raea2002's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Interesting question.... I am curious to know what others have experienced too! My husband and I were just discussing this issue tonight! Our 3 1/2 year old daughter was just diagnosed with celiac. She does not have a speech delay, but her twin brother does, and is in speech therapy. He does not have the digestive issues she has had, but they both have... -
ARCHIVED Daughter positive

1974girl, I am hanging in there ...while it is a relief to have answers as to why my little girl is so miserable, it was also really hard for me to hear that the biopsy confirmed Celiacs, and honestly, I was devastated. Even though we knew chances were very high she had it after getting the blood test results, and had already gone gluten free for her as... -
ARCHIVED My Daughter Just Diagnosed And I Have A Couple Questions

Yes, it is definitely a relief to have answers, but it was also hard to hear the results even though I was not surprised. The other 3 kids got their blood tests today and I had mine yesterday. Just my hubby left to do the test. I will be happy when we get the results back and I don't have to make gluten food for the other 3 kids and gluten free for my... -

We got the result of my daughter's biopsy today and it confirmed celiac disease. My other 3 kids are getting a celiac panel done tomorrow, and I got mine done today. So just my husband left to test. -
ARCHIVED The Waiting Game
scstampin replied to Birdie19's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yea, I hear ya! It is overwhelming and I am sure will take a lot of planning, especially going to school and working as you figure it all out, but at least we have support here right as we learn!? My kids are not in daycare; I stay home with them. My daughter and her twin will be in preschool next year, so I am thankful to have the summer to figure... -
ARCHIVED The Waiting Game

I don't have any words of advice to offer, just understanding, as I am in the same boat as well. My 3 1/2 year old daughter had a positive blood test last week, and she just had her endoscopy today. We started gluten free today as soon as her biopsy was done. We feel like the sooner we can get her healing, the better. But we have also contemplated, what... -

I have not had blood work done on myself. But I was thinking I will probably call my doctor tomorrow and request the blood test as well. I am also planning on called the pediatrician tomorrow and asking for the blood test for the other 3 kids as well. Is there specific blood tests I need to ask for for myself and the kids? Thanks! -

Thank you so much everyone for all of your advice and input! It has been so helpful for us. I am going to call the pediatrician tomorrow and request blood tests for my other 3 children, hopefully before wednesday. My daughter's biopsy is wednesday, and we have decided to start her gluten free as soon as that is done, unless her GI tells us otherwise,... -

Thanks 1974girl! I don't have a copy of any of my results, so I have no idea how many biopsies they took or where from when they did my scope, but now I would like to know! They weren't doing the scope primarily to check for Celiac, it was for other reasons, but I asked them to check, so I wonder if they just did like one biopsy or something. I will... -
My daughter just had a positive blood test for Celiac and is having an endoscopy done next wednesday. I had a biopsy done that was negative, but feel that I should be retested as I have a lot of symptoms, and now with my daughter's positive blood test, it makes me wonder even more. Anyway, since we found out a few days ago, my husband and I have talked...

ARCHIVED My Daughter Just Diagnosed And I Have A Couple Questions
scstampin replied to scstampin's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for the information on the thyroid. Her GI doc did not mention it at all when she called me to let me know of the positive result for Celiac. We will definitely be getting her T3 and T4 checked. I knew nothing about what these results meant and assumed her GI would have let us know if there was anything to be concerned about with the level. Luckily... -
ARCHIVED My Daughter Just Diagnosed And I Have A Couple Questions

Thanks beachbirdie Yes her TSH level was slightly elevated. Her regular pediatrician wasn't too concerned, but wanted to check her T3 and T4 levels. I have no idea what those mean, but that was just what I was told. I have not had a blood test done for Celiac disease, but I have had the biopsy. I was having the endoscopy done for other reasons... -

Hi everyone, My 3 year old daughter has been having constipation issues since she was a baby. It has gotten really bad over the past 6 months and after she didn't poop for somewhere between 8 and 10 days, the Dr. did an xray, which showed she was completely backed up and full of stool. We started daily enemas, then went down to every other day along...
