ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries
ShortStuff2309 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I was wondering why I always feel as though I've been glutened after eating McDonald's french fries. It took some digging, but I found out why. McDonald's lists their french fries as being gluten free. However, they are not gluten free if you look at their ingredients. Ingredients Small French Fries Potatoes, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, natural... -

ARCHIVED Chili's Or Tgi Friday's - Which Is Better?
ShortStuff2309 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
This weekend I will be going out for my birthday and the restaurant selection is either Chili's or TGI Friday's. I was wondering which would be the better of the two for gluten-free food? -
ARCHIVED Hard Cider?

Does anyone know if hard cider is gluten-free? -
I am having the same exact problem!! I have been gluten-free since July, am getting enough of everything (protein, etc) and my hair has turned from silky and shiny to extremely dry and coarse. I just had to have 5 INCHES cut off because it looked so bad!!! My hairdresser did a conditioning treatment on me and even that didn't work. (And yes, they were all...

Hello, I went to Denny's for dinner last night and was actually able to have a full, normal dinner while dining out! They had this BBQ grilled chicken with cheese and bacon on top, and your choice of 2 sides, so I got the baked potato and cinnamon apples. It was soooo good! And it was so nice to be able to have a regular meal and not have to ask for something...

ARCHIVED Question About Fiber Pills
ShortStuff2309 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello, I have noticed a lot of people saying that they went from having diarrhea to being constipated after going gluten-free. I have been dealing with this now, as well. I was going to get some of the fiber pills, like Citrucel or Benefiber, but I was reading the instructions on them at Walmart yesterday and it says to take 2-8 pills a day. Before I go... -
I do agree that it is probably better for my well-being that I can't have all of the junk anymore. I was just talking to my bf's mother yesterday about that. I told her that I don't think I've ever eaten so healthy in my life! She has been retired for the past year and has put on a lot of weight during that time, and said that something like what I'm going...

Hello, I just thought I'd mention this for anyone else who has tried the corn pasta and thought it was yucky - I made some last night for dinner. I made corn pasta for myself and regular pasta for my bf. Well, it's hard to make two things of pasta at once without them boiling over, so I ended up doing mine, then his, so mine sat there for a little while...

I've always been a big junk food eater, so passing by a Krispy Kream makes me want to throw something. And Pizza Hut was my favorite place to eat, always has been, now I can't even go there anymore. So I hear you, laurelfla! But I don't think that others should have to suffer just because I can't eat something. If they want it, they can have it. I'm just...

Hello, I have noticed something and was wondering if anyone else has this happen - whenever I've been glutened, I get the usual bloating, cramps, diarrhea and all of that. But, the way I can tell that it has gone out of my system is when, of course, the bloating goes way down, and I have to pee constantly! I mean, every 5-10 minutes I really have to go...

So yesterday, my bf and I volunteered to hand out water to runners in a muscular dystrophy run. There was a free chicken barbeque afterwords. So I ate the salad that came with it, which also came with packets of dressing where you could read the ingredients, but I knew I couldn't have anything else there. Then, we went to the county fair to see his friend...

ARCHIVED Gluten-free?
ShortStuff2309 replied to YankeeDB's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I'm so glad someone brought this up, as I forgot to mention it after I went shopping last week. I was about to buy some plain rice cereal, I think it was crispix or chex or one of those, and it said "Rice Malt" in the ingredients, so I immediately put it back. So Rice Malt is ok to have? -

So I am finally done with school for the summer semester and I get a month break. I am leaving this Friday to go stay with my boyfriend for 3 weeks. I have been getting my gluten-free foods at Wegman's here at home, because they have a big natural foods section and carry a lot of gluten-free products. But where he lives, they only have a Tops store. Does...

Hello, I also have had the same type of pain. As a matter of fact, just before I was diagnosed with Celiac, I was away on vacation and the pain in my stomach was so bad that I couldn't stand it. I was rolling around on the bed, crying my eyes out because I was in so much pain. I called my doctor and he told me to get to the emergency room right away, so...

Do any of you sometimes allow yourself to have something with gluten in it if you've been craving it for so long, and just deal with feeling sick afterword? -
I just read that a few days ago about tax breaks and was all excited about it. That stinks!

ARCHIVED Spasms In My Stomach
ShortStuff2309 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hello, I'm really curious about something - Whenever I eat anything on an empty stomach, my stomach goes into spasms, I think it's my stomach muscles but I don't know. It's been doing that for quite some time; before I was gluten-free and now that I am gluten-free. I was just wondering if anyone else had this happen and if anyone knows what it is or... -
ARCHIVED Another Newbie W/lots Of Questions
ShortStuff2309 replied to ShortStuff2309's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you so much, everyone. This is all a huge help. I haven't had time to get to the grocery store yet so pretty much all we have around here that I can eat is fruit (which I've been living on for a week!), rice and salad - none of which really fill you up so I've felt so hungry lately! I went through the fridge, freezer and pantry with my dad and showed... -
ARCHIVED Another Newbie W/lots Of Questions
ShortStuff2309 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was just diagnosed with this a week ago. I couldn't get an appt with the dietary specialist until the end of the month, so in what little spare time I've had (I'm taking 10 credit hours in 2 months - can you say stressed out?!?!), I've been researching as much as I can. I've found a lot of things that are extremely confusing, though. Like on the list my...
