  1. Managing my hyperthyroid is a piece of gluten free cake compared to managing my gluten intolerance. Before I was diagnosed my hair was falling out. I've been on synthroid for 15 years and have long healthy hair. I look forward to the day when we can all take a little pill to control gluten intolerance as easily as thyroid disease. Good luck to you!
  2. It's not unusual to have both; celiac and thyroid disease. Auto immune diseases like each others company unfortunately. I was diagnosed with thyroid disease when I was 32. Now at the age of 47 my doctor thinks im either celiac or gluten sensitive. An informed doctor will know there is a link between the two diseases. Here is a link to an excellent article...
  3. Thank you for your reply. I had my gallbladder removed many years ago and last time we checked liver and pancreas function were normal. I'm not sure what is in that area that could be bothering me. I'm seeing my doc today. Hopefully he can figure it out.
  4. Im 3 1/2 weeks gluten-free. The burning I'm my stomach and under my right rib is finally gone but I'm still having some pain in my back (indigestion?). When can I expect to feel normal again? Ive heard 3 months and I've heard it may take an entire year? Anyone else have upper back pain from heartburn or indigestion?
  5. I could have written your post! I got really sick in February. My doctor had a serious of tests done including a blood test for celiac. Everything came back negative. My doctor had no faith in the blood test and kept telling me to go gluten free. I resisted. I didn't want to have to change my eating habits. I thought it would be too hard to do. My last doctors...
  6. Also- I get that same pain on my right side under my ribs. It's worse during the night. Wakes me up and is so painful. That along with the constant indigestion and heart burn.. I eat tums like they are tic tacs. I was wondering today if Tums is even gluten free?? The internet has helped me more than anyone/anything. I do know how you feel... if that helps...
  7. I'm day 6 gluten free.. But I found gluten free beer today so my spirits have lifted! Obviously I don't like having to watch what I eat but I'm so desperate to feel better that I'm going to do it no matter how tough it is. I was feeling sorry for myself this morning until I found out my friend's son was rushed to the hospital with bleeding on the brain...
