  1. Been reading old posts about multi-vitamins. Target's Up & Up, are they still gluten free? Im thinking of going to grab some today and just wanted to be sure before I got there. Do any of you get your vitamins from The Vitamin Shoppe? Im obviously looking for value and would like an idea of what Im looking for before I go to the store. I know the...
  2. I did that same cruise last year for Memorial Day. You will have a blast! If you are traveling with Carnival, I was actually looking last night (we are thinking of booking another one) and they say that they have a gluten free dining option. It says you don't have to call and let them know ahead of time, but I would. When you are doing the check-in process...
  3. Today has been a week in my gluten-free life. Ive had more energy this week than I have in years. And the kids are back in school so Ive been getting up early. Yesterday morning I washed AND waxed my truck and then in the evening I bathed my dog. Which I paid for last night because I was sore, but it was a good kind of sore. Not the debilitating aches....
  4. I have not tried it, but I will now. My kids normally use that. Thank you for the suggestion!
  5. Ok here is what I use: In the shower I currently use head and shoulders (I normally use Treseme' but it made me itch so I grabbed the bottle of H&S we had on hand), dial bodywash. For tooth paste I use Colgate gel with breathstrips. Lotion I use Oil of Olay quench. Sometimes I use bath and body works lotion, but rarely. I know my chapstick is safe as...
  6. I had this same thing with the episode that landed me in the ER. Ask the Dr for some Valium. It was the ONLY thing that allowed me to be able to walk without assistance. They tried me on the vertigo meds and it did nothing. Within an hour the valium had me able to walk by myself, granted I still had to run my hand against the wall, but I could walk without...
  7. Im almost positive that I have a soy issue. Awhile back when I tried some soy milk, it had me in the bathroom before I could even finish with my meal. And maybe Im expecting too much too soon. The first couple of days, I ate all kinds of things and no bathroom run. Ive had stomach issues virtually all my life. In my late teens, I would eat and immediately...
  8. They aren't a new food to me, but I purchased all new containers that have not been CC'd for safety's sake.
  9. Also I should add that I toasted my bread in my brand new, just for me, toaster oven.
  10. I started the gluten-free diet Tuesday of last week. So I haven't been on it for long. But for the past 2 mornings after breakfast Ive had to make a dash for the bathroom. And unfortunately this afternoon Im not feeling any better. Yesterday morning I had cantaloupe, almond milk, and toast (gluten-free rice bread). Everything was safe, made by me, no possibility...
  11. Its several days in and this morning I ate something that made me sick. Im not sure what it was, because everything was new. gluten-free bread/toast with jelly, Almond milk, and cantaloupe. Im thinking it was the cantaloupe. Ive had trouble in the past with it, but will start the rule out process. Other than having a headache this afternoon, Im doing good...
  12. I was all happy that my Dr skipped the bloodwork and went straight to the endo. He did biopsies and was checking the whole area. Well guess who forgot to specifically look for Celiac? Not only that, he only did 2 biopsies. I was SO mad I could have spit nails. Not to mention when I sent my husband the text, I thought he would come through the phone and strangle...
  13. I actually put in a best offer for that book on ebay to try and save a bit of money and haven't heard back from the seller. I thought maybe I could try and make it without it, but Ive reconsidered and think Im going to go ahead and buy it. I was hoping I could find it in a bookstore nearby but I haven't been successful so far. And yes, its overwhelming right...
  14. Ok, Ive used the Google Search option and have even scoured the internet for a list of personal care products. Is there a place like the GFoverflow website that I can check out items that I would pick up in Walmart or places like that? I am so new to this and I haven't had time to properly learn how to read labels yet. So bascially I need a cheat sheet....
  15. So far today Im great. Knock on wood! The rest of yesterday was not fun at all. All my joints were killing me, and I just felt like I had been hit by a bus. But, Ive not had any stomach issues and Ive been eating things I know would have given me an upset stomach had they not been gluten-free. I got me some rice milk (Ive tried the soy in the past and hated...
  16. I started my gluten-free way of life 28 hours ago. Its Wednesday and my son is already back in school, and Ive been getting up early, so there was no denying myself a nap. I woke up with a terrible horrible headache. If Im already having withdrawals, this is gonna be tougher than I had imagined! Ive been totally immersed in reading on the forum and I know...
  17. Is it safe? Ive looked on the gluten-free Overflow site and its not on there. This is just the tea bags, not the premade stuff. I hope and pray that I don't have to give up my favorite tea
  18. And something else I found out is Turner Stadium is one of, if not the only stadium that will allow you to bring in your own food/drinks. It has to be in a soft sided cooler and they will check it. The gluten-free counter was pretty cool. They had a very limited menu of course but they had good looking stuff. And the price was what all the other venders...
  19. Im a very green pea with this learning the gluten-free diet and I haven't even gone strictly gluten-free yet, though Im working on it. But today Im going to a Braves game and found that they have an entire gluten-free concession stand! Granted Im sure it will be expensive as all get out, but what isn't at a place like that? I just though it was pretty cool...
  20. Ive spent hours and hours reading on here. This place is a treasure trove of information. Its great to know that Im not alone. I think Im going to place an order for some food through the gluten free mall to get me started until I learn more about reading labels and learning where things are in our grocery stores. We aren't in a large city so we don't have...
  21. This will be my motivational thread as I am just starting the gluten free life.
  22. Hi everyone!! Ive been lurking for a few weeks now and decided time to dive in the discussion. I am a 31 yr old stay at home mom of 2. Im not diagnosed yet but have had my biopsy done. My Dr. bypassed the blood work and went straight for the biopsy. I don't think I could handle another "you are perfectly healthy on paper" results in blood work! I won't...
