  1. Agree. It's very difficult even with a Whole Foods to shop at and a lot of planning. I wish I were someone who could simply stop eating gluten and my problems go away like so many people I've read about with Celiac. Unfortunately, I have a lot of problems with other foods though. Do you have intolerances as well and do you still have problems with foods...
  2. Fasano uses the term "leaky gut" or intestinal permeability throughout this presentation. Irish, what am I missing here? Honest question?
  3. My GI doc said that Fasano was the doctor who said there may be other genetic pathways in a conference their staff went to recently.
  4. I do yoga often. I was doing pushups and lifting weights and even got back on my mountain bike for a few months. Things seemed to be getting better. Then the chronic popping returned (never went away in my shoulders and wrists) and it's getting worse. Irish, I'm eating twice as much clean food as a coworker of mine who has issues with gluten and dairy...
  5. Irish, this sounds exactly like me. A few points. I'm not just basing my views on one or two or even a handful of opinions. I've read SO MUCH over the last 2 years. I've been to Mayo and spoke with over 20 doctors about my symptoms. I'm in debt to the tune of about $3 grand and still looking for answers. I know the difference between an intolerance and...
  6. Hi Irish. I've seen an orthopedic surgeon. I've seen a lot of different doctors. They all pretty much act like they've never heard of anyone with popping joints. They say it's air bubbles, and that I shouldn't be concerned about it. They ask me to stretch my arms over my head, behind my back, etc and tell me that my flexibility and strength are good....
  7. When I was first tested for food intolerances, it eliminated nearly my entire diet. I didn't really know what to do. I ate TERRIBLE for my entire adult life. A lot of fast food, Starbucks, candy, chips/dips, soft drinks (never drank water). Then all of a sudden, the joints went crazy. The doctors ruled out everything and said my tests were all normal. Then...
  8. Thanks for the response. I was told that "leaky gut" does not exist at the Mayo Clinic last summer as well. However, Dr. Alessio Fasano speaks of leaky gut all the time, and his new book just released does as well. I just read Jennifer Esposito's new book on her journey with Celiac Disease, and her doctor(s) (Dr. Fratallone) in New York have based her entire...
  9. I'm 40, male, and have had Celiac symptoms that I didn't recognize until I started having major joint problems 2 years ago. I've been thin my entire life (couldn't gain weight), had a lot of stomach aches/diarrhea growing up (went away for the most part during my college years and through my 20's and early 30's), delayed puberty, chronic canker sores, sore...
  10. I still fairly new to the board, and I'm not diagnosed Celiac. I had removed gluten from my diet several months before I had my endoscopy. A little history...I had a severe onset of joint pain in March of 2012. I was convinced I had RA but have been told by four rheumys that I do not have arthritis including one at the Mayo Clinic. After seeing rheumatologists...
  11. Yeah Irish, I started this thread before I pm'd you.
  12. So you do not have swelling with the pain?
  13. Do you have swelling? I have had joint pain for almost two years now, but I've never had any swelling. My joint pain is severe at times and although they get warm, they never swell.
  14. Thanks.
  15. Do you guys generally avoid all bulk food bins in places like Whole Foods/Sprouts? If so, what is a good company to get nuts/seeds like almonds, pecans, sunflower, and pumpkin seeds?
  16. Anyone know if there are other ways to diagnose someone as Celiac besides going through weeks of eating a gluten-diet? Are they making any breakthroughs regarding alternative testing? I have many Celiac-type symptoms, but I just don't think I can go back to eating gluten. However, I still share a kitchen with my family who eat gluten.
  17. My symptoms are VERY similar to yours, and I've been almost down the same path. 19 months after the severe joint pain started, I still do not have GI issues that cause stomach or intestinal pain. My biggest problem is that my popping seems to be progressing to other major joints (mainly my knees right now). But I go out and eat at Jason's Deli and have their...
  18. I really wonder if I'm undiagnosed Celiac. I've been off gluten for over a year now, and when I had my upper endoscopy done, I'd been off for about 7 months. My villi looked great according to my GI doctor who performed the biopsies. Mayo also said my genetic blood test they did came back absent for Celiac genes/pairs (can't remember). He did say that the...
  19. foam, thank you for this information. How did you go about learning of your B12 deficiency? My gastroenterologist (who is apparently the best GI doctor in Austin) is the one who discovered the redness in my stomach when he did my upper endoscopy. He said is was gastritis and didn't really know what could be done about it. He also said my villi looked good...
  20. I take Zenpep (prescribed pancreatic enzyme). It doesn't seem to be helping with the weight gain.
  21. I've been told by four rheumatologists that I don't have arthritis. But, I have severe joint pain if I eat certain foods. Now that I've managed to reduce the joint pain through diet, this popping is taking over. It's like everything is getting loose. There is an autoimmune response going on that is causing this. I'm worried it's degenerative. My shoulders...
  22. I have similar issues. I'm 5'10 and could never get to 160 pounds no matter how much I lifted weights or ate. I used to gorge myself with calories. The most I ever got up to was 157 right before I began having severe joint issues at 37 years old. When I was in college and in the best shape of my life, I got up to a lean 155 pounds. I could eat McDonalds daily...
  23. Thanks. Really don't understand why this popping condition is so rare. Very frightening.
