  1. Kiera's Mom, In reading your story, ours is very similar, espeicially the intussusception . In all of our doc visits I have never heard of another child who experience this with Celiac. Sage was 15 mo old when she experienced the same conditions as your daughter. In and out of the hospital for 2-3 weeks. She had the surgery to undo the intussusception...
  2. I just need to vent. I was lucky enough to find a a woman in a nearby town that is starting her own gluten-free Goodies business. We celebrated Sage's 2nd b-day with a gluten-free cake fully decorated with Dora the Explorer - She was very excited After everyone was done the cake, my sister-in-law apparently broke out in some type of itchy rash...
  3. I can't believe that Mom/Grandmom would say such things. But then again, My mother-in-law still thinks she'll outgrow it???? At what point do you have to "tell" people that she has Celiac. My 2-yo DD is still pretty much "under my wing", along with the immediate family. But beyond that she's not exposed to real world scenarios. As her mom, I do not...
  4. Thanks Kaiti! My DD is 2 yo and puts everything in her mouth (new molars are coming in), so I'm checking everything!
  5. It is gluten-free. When DD was diagnosed, they have her on this to be sure she's getting all the right stuff! Our GI doc called as well as our pharmacists and both confrmed it's gluten-free.
  6. Dish washing detergent for both the dishwasher and by hand? Does anyone know if Dawn is gluten-free? How about laundry soap? Tide?
  7. I ran across this recipe in Nick Jr. Family Magazine (Feb/Mar 05) for a fun gluten-free treats for parties and thought I would share. Meringue Cloud Lollipops 4 egg whites 1 cup sugar 25 ice cream sticks. Preheat oven to 200"F. Lightly coat 2 backing sheets with nonstick spray. Using an electric mixer, beat egg whites at med speed until...
  8. I thought that gluten molecules are too small to ingest through the skin. Why would shampoo need to be gluten-free, unless you're drinking it or eating your hair?
  9. Thanks everyone for your inputs. I think I'm going to do a another complete checklist again. I gaining my knowledge about what foods are gluten-free based on these forums as well as Clan Thompson, and obviously reading the ingredients. But there seems to be so much "hidden" things, MFS, Malt, etc..... In your experiences, are these sources of information...
  10. My 22-mo daughter was dx 2/05 combined with intessuception. She had her 2nd TTG screening and levels dropped from 103 to 70. Her new doc (closer to home) seems to think this is good (because it's dropping), but "normal" is less than 19. She as been 6-mo gluten free. How long does it take to get "normal" or does it ever get normal for a Celiac patient...
