ARCHIVED 6 Year Old Son... Confused By Test Results?
chickpea77 posted a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
So, we went to see the pediatric gi today to get C's results (Marsh 3a), and when I asked if I could get a copy of the results she said that I would have to go through the medical records department to get a copy of them because they are only put into his file, not given out. Is this common practice? I have read that I should be getting a copy for my own... -
Results are in and he tested......POSITIVE!!!! So happy to have an answer now!!! I am not excited that he has Celiac Disease, but it could be a lot worse. Counting our blessings! Fantastic!! Congratulations!! -
Waiting, waiting, waiting, lol. I called the Dr's office last Friday and left a message for someone to call me back. A nurse called me back on Monday and apparently the Dr is on vacation until next Tuesday. She told me to call next Tuesday and she would probably give me the results over the phone. Things are going well here otherwise though. I just watched...

Thank you for your responses He has been gluten free since Wednesday and I can already see a difference in him. He has more colour in his cheeks, his face sees fuller, he has been eating a lot more, and the scale has gone up 3 pounds!! Since Wednesday!! I KNOW that he has Celiac Disease, I guess I am just so worried about not having a definitive diagnosis...

I guess the title of this thread says it all, lol. I am not very good at waiting for results, and our follow up test is almost a month away Just wondering what the likelihood of getting a negative biopsy result is in a 6 year old with this bloodwork along with visible changes during the endoscopy? He has been gluten free since Wednesday, just curious...

ARCHIVED 6 Year Old Son... Confused By Test Results

So, we just got back from the scope. The Dr told us they saw some slight redness, and then in recovery the nurse was reading the chart and said that they found some scalloping.... any opinions on what that might mean? -
ARCHIVED Testing In 5 Year Old Who Is Gluten-Lite?
chickpea77 replied to Mom-of-Two's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
My son eats some gluten every day, but not much at all. We took him off of gluten altogether for 2 weeks over Christmas just to see how he would respond. His total demeanor changed, no more belly aches, much happier.... We decided to take him to the dr after seeing the results. We had bloodwork done and his ttg iga came back 25 (20-30 weak positive). We had... -

My doctor says he always checks anyone with low iron for Celiac Disease because it is often one of the major signs. -

chickpea77 replied to chickpea77's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
So we went to the Ped. GI this morning and my son is booked for his scope next Monday morning. They will take 6 biopsies. I was concerned that because his only positive test (tTG iga) was only at a 37 (20 - 30 weak positive/ >30 moderate to strong positive) that the biopsies would be negative/inconclusive but the Dr didn't seem too worried about it and... -

2 days until we see the Pediatric Gastroenterologist.....I don't know why I am freaking out so badly because, regardless of what s/he says the issue is, he is going gluten free.... a weak positive ttg, then a positive ttg, a tummy ache every single time he eats and they seem to be getting more painful, plus I have celiac disease too.... There is no way I... -

Thank you for your suport This has bee a stressful time. Honestly I am most worried about the scope because of what happened last time he was put out (he was tongue-tied and had to go for corrective surgery at 4 years old). They practically tore him off of me while he was letting out blood curdling screams staring at me and reaching for me as they took... -

So, we got the results from the repeat blood test today. His ttg iga went from a 25 (weak positive 20-30) to 37 (moderate to strong positive >30). He was still negative in his gliadin iga (he got a 4) and gliadin igg (he got a 13) {both of these are <20 negative}. His total iga was in the normal range and his EMA came back negative. Dr. said he is pretty... -

yes, we've done repeat bloodwork, just waiting on the results (ttg iga, dgp iga and igg, ema, total iga). we are book in to see a pediatric gi for feb.19..... getting very nervous about receiving a negative biopsy result (that is if the gi even orders the scope). i do have a question though, would the ttg iga be weak positive if he was iga deficient? and... -
ARCHIVED First Pediatric Gi Appt Coming Up..... What To Expect?
chickpea77 posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello again, As I mentioned in my initial post, my 6 year old son had a weak positive ttg iga (negative dgp iga and igg). He has been back for the repeat bloodwork (no results for him or his 11 year old brother yet), and we were referred to a Ped. GI. I received the call today that we are booked for Feb 19..... then I started getting stressed out.... what... -

tTG 25 HI (20 - 30 units: weak positive) GLIADIN AS IgA: 4 (<20 negative) GLIADIN AB IgG: 11 (<20 negative I am aware that there are reasons other than Celiac Disease for a positive tTG, I guess I'm just wondering if anyone has a child that was conclusively diagnosed when the only positive in the blood work was a weak positive tTG? Sorry about... -

Sorry something went wrong with the rest of my post... So, if testing comes back negative, what do I do? Has anyone had a child with a weak positive tTG and negative on all other bloodwork and have a positive biopsy? And if the only thing slightly elevated is the tTG and the dr is pretty darn sure it is nothing else, would you raise your child gluten... -

So, if you read my other post you would be aware that we took our 6 1/2 year old for a blood test to check for celiac disease over Christmas holidays. His results were as follows: tTG IgA: 25 HI (weak positive 20 -30 units) GLIADIN AS: IgA: 4 (<20 negative) GLIADIN AB: IgG: 11 (<20 negative) Background history is that I have "diagnosed undiagnosed... -

so, we went back to the dr to go over everything that you have all suggested, as well as the intensive internet research i've been doing (argh!), and the dr said all of my research is spot on (thank you!!). he wants my son to keep eating the gluten until friday when he goes in for a repeat blood test (total iga, ttg iga, dgp iga and igg, and ema). after getting... -

hank you for the info! i have booked an appointment for tomorrow morning because he has lost another pound i just want to get to the bottom of this before it gets any worse! he has been complaining with less and less ingestion. we have virtually cut out dairy while we are doing the challenge, just to get an accurate idea of how much of the pain is coming... -

So we have boosted his glutn intake for exactly a week now and he has lost 2 lbs (and that was after eating dinner!). He is already so thin, and now his shoulderblades feel "sharp". Still no diarrhea/loose stools, but tummy aches when he eats.... Shouldn't he be gaining weight with all the pasta he has been eating?? We have to keep his intake up for another...
